Would've been nice to have an TDNC or U3 type song on this album, it is missing a ballad imo.

i'm secretly hoping they got one more album in them and will use it to totally change it up and end their career with an album that is stylistically completely out of left field again.
that would be the most metallica thing ever.

So I didn't really think much of You Must Burn but it randomly played in my head as I was going about my day and now that I listen to it again it suddenly clicked with me?? Weird. Yeah this album is good

Yeah this album is good It reminds me of Dream No More (which i didn't like either). I've seen this comparison before, but to me they don't sound anything alike. The concept, lyrics and riffage style are different enough to me so I can enjoy both songs as properly independent beasts.

"You Must Burn" is definitely the "Dream No More" of this album. i acknowledge that they both stand on their own.

I think the "issue" with Inamorata is that it isn't an instant gratification type of song. It takes several minutes for it to give you what you want, so you have to dedicate some time, mindset and thought to really appreciate it.
Maybe it's like the difference between cigarettes and cigars. One is a quick fix, while the other is meant to be consumed slowly and in a thoughtful way, accompanied of a good drink and a good conversation.

The only songs i don't like are You Must Burn and Lux Aeterna. And for me Burn/Lux/Crown is the strongest run on the album. I think a big part of that is because of how singable all of those choruses are.

I think the last 3 songs is the best run. Inamorata makes that easier to choose I think, plus Too Far Gone chorus has become an earworm for me

Room of Mirrors is definitely one of my favorites. I don't really think it feels disjointed for some reason even though I'm usually the first to complain about that, lol.

Somehow Crown has become my new favourite song on the album. Didn’t see that coming.
Also this is a much more consistent album than HW, though I’m still struggling with which albums has the most peaks

Chase that light, lean on me! Face that fight, lean on me! Catch your fall, lean on me! End it all, lean on me! Struggle on 'cause without darkness Without darkness, there's no light

That lead breakdown part in Shadows Follow is a Sepultura song I think. It sounds sooooo familiar, something off of the Arise album I think, Dead Embryonic Cells? I can't put my finger on it but it's driving me crazy. Anyone?

Tell me that I am not losing my mind. Lux sounds different to my ears than before. Some guitar parts sounds changed.

Weird energy and answer around 25:00. It seemed like James was ripping into Kirk a little for saying he doesn't like how Metallica works internally sometimes.

I wonder if the Crown solo ending with the fill at the end of the King Nothing chorus is intentional. Where's your crown?

I think he was quite subtle with it, but I understand what he means about it. Why can’t the worlds richest band produce an interview with decent sound. Stefan sounds like his talking through the speakers of an old iPhone.

I didn't take it as directed at kirk when he said it...but i mean.. there's quite a bit of smoke there.
James never made much of a secret about being more than a bit annoyed that kirk didn't have anything to contribute during hardwired. i remember when someone brought up the "lost cell phone" thing to him he sort of snickered and said something like "is that what he's telling people? ooookay" even saying "his riffs just weren't there" as in what he submitted wasn't up to par. then there's the whole fact that Kirk was not present during much of the "making of HW" sessions. i always felt there was a bit more going on here than what we know.
now with kirk saying he gets frustrated with the way metallica works sometimes - even after getting credited for 4 songs on this record... i guess i could see why james might rip kirk a bit here - IF it is directed at him.

Sleepwalk My Life Away clicked for me. I made an edit for Chasing Light that made the song click for me as well.
Shadows Follow, Screaming Suicide, and Lux Æterna are still just....there.

Struggle on 'cause without darkness Without darkness, there's no light great chorus! so catchy. I just wished that the middle section wasn't that different (or in my case, weak). Otherwise it is definately a great song.

One of this album's weaknesses I'm noticing is the middle section riffs. So often the verses and choruses are excellent, but then they spend 2-3 minutes on a sub-par bridge and Kirk Hammett solo. Takes me out of otherwise great songs. Shadows Follow, Sleepwalk My Life Away, Chasing Light all suffer from this imo.
