The second half of You Must Burn! is definately something you could hear from Candlemass! Such an awesome part. Might be the worst song on the album. that honor belongs to room of mirrors for me. |

I know most of us don’t care about videos but it has to be pointed out just how bad they are. Who’s seen the latest one? It makes the black and white flashing squares we saw in the cinema look like a cinematic masterpiece. I havent lookes at any of this released vids. Partly because if Im gonna play these songs I will use the disc but more due to what I saw at the cinema |

I saw the display at Walmart yesterday. Full of copies, $15 each and they restocked the classic albums at $10 a pop but it's the new improved versions or something and they have really cheap packaging, almost look like Metallica happy meal CDs.
This new batch of tunes will absolutely not leave my head. I wake up, and they are still playing in the background of my thoughts. It's driving me mad...in a good way 😂
The more they settle down up there, the better they get.
Oh and check this, it's going to sound killer.

Also you guys disliking the Shadows riff, it’s probably one of my favourite riffs if not my most favourite on the album. That riff along with Just A Bullet Away in my top 5 post Black Album riffs easily. Don’t remember that parking lot riff at all. I’m curious, what in particular is so great about this riff ? I still don’t feel it and it’s probably one of my least favourite riffs on the album :( Have you played it on guitar ? |

That prison video for Crown that just dropped is quite something... I don't like the glorification of violence without a conclusive narrative tied to this song at all. I can see where the plot was supposed to go, but all of a sudden Metallica are seemingly siding with a child and mom killer and everybody dies by the spit out the Bone skeleton?
The song is a pretty deep insight into how James perceives the weight of his legacy and this is what gets done to it🤔

But I think their intention was to shock everyone and show that they are not always the good guys. They are flawed and may have hurt good people too, so they are portrayed as vicious villains too. Very weird choice IMHO, but it was indeed a heavy and dark video, just like the song. But I'll never show that disturbed shit to anyone... Just imagine you saying: "hey, you've gotta watch this amazing new Metallica video...." And then the band teams up with a demented murderer in order to beat the good guy to death... |

First we get Kirk and Rob completely wasted in the promo videos for each song, then Kirk started to say random shit about some lame YouTubers that criticized him, and now the band came with a video like that. I liked the video. I don't get the outrage about it. I got the story the video was trying to tell pretty easily..
The really sad part about the video is how far the Roll The Bones skeleton has fallen since 1991. Tragic.

I think it kind of adds to the confusion that now some songs have two completely different videos, one that some of the audience saw at the premiere and the other one that they put on YouTube which also seem to have more effort put into them in good and bad. That's just confusing and pointless, sort of like HTSD having a video for every song except most of them were pretty forgettable. |

My guess is that Metallica management put out an open call or something to up and coming artists. But, being so secretive about the new material, didn't actually provide the song to the directors until the absolute last minute. Upon realizing that they wouldn't make the deadline, Metallica went with plan B wich was to use lesser quality submissions or have someone frantically throw together those seizure videos they threw on the screen.
Once the real videos were done rendering or whatever caused the delays, they were submitted uploaded.
Animators bit off more than they could chew for the time allotted. Probably just told to submit whatever they had by the 14th which would explain some of the demo quality assets which were used.

For me it just sounds cool, the way it rolls through the song - it’s got groove, again it reminds me the Just A Bullet Away riff, not that they are alike in how they are played, just how they are delivered and set the tone and groove of the song. And yes I’ve played it on guitar, but only coz I liked the riff so much. I think it’s this song and You Must Burn are the only ones I’ve picked up a guitar and played along too so far. |
