one part that gets me hard is I think in Shadows Follow when everything punch stops and James just growls "NOOO!".

The Shadows Follow riff gives off the same energy as the Parking Lot riff from years ago. I'm warming up to that song but I still am not hearing what others are, but I'm starting to appreciate the punk vibes of it instead of expecting a thrasher.

Chasing Light has grown on me so much since last night. The same goes for Crown. Sleepwalk is still not up to par to be totally honest. Still, proud of the boys!

The riffs I'm in love with are Shadows Follow and You Must Burn!
Crown definitely growing on me
Unpopular opinion: Lars’ hi hat drives me nuts, especially in songs like Screaming Suicide, but I think it’s perfectly fine and actually adds quite a bit to that section in Inamorata. No complaints about its use in that song.

Inamorata is a perfect 10 for me. No part is out of place, and that chorus riff could stand on its own as a main riff somewhere.

I love how polarizing this album is, the first song I bopped my head to was Sleepwalk I still very much like it. I cannot stand Shadows Follow, it's cool when it takes off after the second chorus, but other than that it's quite bad. Cool intro, horrible riffs, no chorus at all, good James vocals but boring melody. Crown I hated at first, then saw it in the BIO with huge sounds, now i really like it. I cannot stand Chasing Light, needs more listens probably. I have a feeling that I will change my opinions A LOT on these songs. Rob sounds so good on this album btw

I love how polarizing this album is Me too, it means it's really down to personal taste in what we love from the album and what we don't. Previous albums have had, generally speaking, stinkers that most dislike, and standouts most love.

Impatiently awaiting ford71V8 to return and give his thoughts I still haven't grasped the full song, last night I heard it in my bed in the dark. It gave me shivers, it's just fantastic. At the same time though, I can also understand some of the complaints about it. I kind of feel that on several songs actually, it's very weird. I LOVE You Must Burn, but I'm also aware of things that would probably annoy others to death. Like how Lars constantly tries to ruin the song with shitty snare fills. Or how they almost stall the song to death before heading into the awesome Ghostly vocals section. But those things doesn't bother me at all, and they should. Maybe they will in the future, I hope not though. Edit - that Sabbath riff in the middle that James pulls out is EPIC. I cannot get enough of it. All the sabbath and Mercyful fate influences on this records are the best parts for me.

This is how Metallica has been for me since DM; there’s little things that are at least mildly annoying, but it varies person to person how much those little things bother them. You Must Burn isn’t one of my favorites solely because we have Dream No More and that checks that box more for me, but I get why people love it. I still like it too!

I'm going to put $100 on you loving Inamorata after a few more listens Gave the 8 new tracks another spin this morning while I retraced my walk from last night because I had to toss one of my joints because I thought I saw cops. (It was late, I was already toasted, and only have one eye...it was just a traffic light in the distance 😂 and I found my J this morning 😎) I felt last night and again this morning that this album gives me immense 80s horror movie soundtrack vibes. Freddy, Halloween, Friday, Chucky, all those classics could have some of these songs in them and in would be perfect. To get yepsure wager addressed, on second listen I did enjoy it much more this morning after knowing what to expect. I'm still not liking the Lenny Kravitz guitar riff in the verse and the verse in general. That sludgy intro riff is like a dirty outlaw Lulu thing but it's cool. The half time part after the verse is a beast. The My Friend of Misery spin off chorus is good, I like it near the end when it picks up on the last go. The middle soft part was again like a weird MFOM interlude in an alternate universe kind of way. It could have used some guitar swells damn it! But then it morphs into U3 as builds. Not gonna lie, when those harmonies kicked in after the U3 build up, I cried. I don't know, it just hit me in a way, like all this shit going on in life, and all the build up for this album and kind of seeing hope for the future after the last couple years etc, plus lack of sleep and THC... it hit me hard. Then the song concluded well to leave me with a fat better impression than on first listen. Ok, back to the start. Second go. Shadows Follow. Still loving this one. Still giving me 90s+00s King Diamond vibes all around. Like an evil End of the line or something. I love the delivery in the verses, the drawn out vocals sound like an 80s pop song or something by Tiffany but then kicks you in your teeth. Sleepwalk My Life Away Still meh and worst on the album IMO. It's like Enter SandManUnKind. It's okay, it may grow on me, but it's definitely the one I like the least, and by far. You Must Burn Heavy as Hell, awesome tune. Again, makes me feel like if King Diamond wrote Fixer or Outlaw Torn. Crown of Barbwire Same feeling as first listen. I love the bouncyness. Feels like Dragon or something from Lulu with a Limp Bizkit bounce meeting Judas Kiss somewhere in there. The chorus is unlike any James vocals before, very cool, very Reload evolved. BRB

Alot of these songs have a Lords of Summer/Death is Not the End demo vibe and could use some editing imo. I am not hearing that at all, sorry. I really don't think these songs needed editing the way Death Magnetic songs needed. Singles do but not as much...and the rest of the songs don't need that at all (perhaps Room of Mirrors too, prbably my least favourite at the moment).

That explains the varying reviews. I am surprised to see that my favourites are actually quite different than the reviews.

Chassing Light I fucking love the chorus. One of the album highlights for me definitely. Again, gives me psychotic King Diamond 80s horror movie vibes. The riffs are cool enough, sort of Hate Train No Remorse or something.
Too Far Gone Still loving this one, but last night I thought it was the best, now I'm not so sure 😁. Still great.
Room of Mirrors Still kick ass, more so today.
There's so much to take in. All the guitar harmonies on the album are amazing. There are so many cool little parts my brain is still learning on which songs they are. But, after 2 listens now, I can already hear them in my head starting to separate from eachother into their own songs.
Fucking legends. What a trip. Meets all of my previous hopes, but far exceeds what I had actually expected.

My first impression is that this album is great for where they are at.
It will definitely grow on me with more listens and time. However, after one listen, it doesn’t hit the highs that Spit, Halo, and Moth did. I remember grinning from ear to ear when I first heard those. It took a couple songs in before this album got a smile from me.
However, I believe I will grow to love some of these songs. It reminds me of a much stronger and more intense load/reload/garage style but even a bit better than that. Although, again this is my initial reaction, Inamorata was overhyped. I liked it, but I need more time with it. It didn’t hit me like I had hoped. Maybe expectations were off on that one.
Overall James sounds great, Kirk had some good moments, there’s some really good stuff in there, and I’m excited to continue listening and enjoying this one.

Shadows Fall is another highlight for me. It's more focussed than many of the other songs. The chorus isn't particularly melodic, but it works. Also like the solo. Love the chugging riffs.

Quite like Crown of Barbed Wire, that moody riff, doesn't seem a popular song though.

Ok so for the first time I've listened to the whole thing from start to finish. What a drudgery it was. I feel like I've listened to Am I Savage and Murder One 8 times in a row.

If they ever going to decide to make another album 5 years from now or whenever I really, really hope that they will hire a new producer. Or bring back Bob Rock. I feel like Hetfield/Ulrich/Fidelman project is running on a fumes already.

Even though i do like quite a few songs on the 72S it does lack the vitality and bounce of their last few albums. It is kinda depressing and flat in places.

Lmao when I first saw that video I thought that, but the way they used it in the song is super effective. I'm glad they chopped off part of it tbh

I would say that like 80% of riffs on this album sound very amateurish and forgettable. Which is weird coming from a band that suppose to have millions of riffs in their vault.
