Im bowing out too, dont want my impressions warped by forum comments.
Ive got 5 hours, 10 mins left til cinema time.
Hopefully I can get a CD sometime tmrw for a Proper listen at home, in full, no visuals, no interruptions.
Got an email telling me my vinyl is in the post too so Im content with not looking for new music. The singles released have been only played a few times as they dropped so as to not burn out on anything.
Exciting stuff!

There's a real Sabbathy vibe to the rest of the album, some cool riffs (ie on Sleepwalk/Shadows/Burn) but slightly disappointing in terms of the vocals. The singles released so far are probably the highlights on the album. Alot of samey sounding sections but overall i'll give it 7/10. Decent but not as good as DM or HWTSD imo (but you guys might disagree with this).

I'm just going to say this, since everybody knows the song:
"Lux Aeterna" is the centerpiece of the album and it is really, REALLY needed. Not the best track, just really needs to be where it is.

That's an interesting quote cos Sleeps was one of the few (the only?) track that the band wrote in the studio during the Load sessions. Hence the lack of "Dungeon" demo. I wonder who came up with that bassline then. Yeah that’s a James riff as far as I can recall I know the main riff came from James, it just strikes me as weird that if the band was jamming this track and writing it live int he studio, why would james write the intro bass riff?? I know it's not inconceivable just interested in the process. I guess the deluxe box will maybe shed more light. Kirk needs 1990 Bob Rock. He very much does. The band does as a whole I think. apparently everyone here has heard the damn record but me :-[ I haven't! I'm at least going to wait until tomorrow until I go looking for the tunes. |

Sleeps sounds like something Kirk might write... especially the verses with that heavily chorusy surf guitar sound

Imagine Until it Sleeps starting with power chords ringing out along with the bass line. James showing the notes to Jason to play along, then Bob or Lars saying to drop the guitars and just let the bass stand alone. That is probably how Jason didn't write the bass part.
