Because nowadays Kirk doesn't "write" solos. He just vomit random pentatonic licks ad nauseum and then give them all to Lars and Greg to rearrange and stich it all together in a Pro Tools time-line. No one should be given credit for this kind of shit. I tend to agree. Lux is especially horrific. I just read that interview again where he says that modal playing doesn’t suit Metallica. And that it’s much more difficult to incorporate pentatonic licks. I mean, what the fuck. Those bluesy licks does NOT fit a heavy song with dark lyrics. People are saying from the 2 tracks leaked that Kirk is in MOP solo territory compared to what has been released, and that those two songs are way better than the singles 🤷🏻♂️ |

I caved and listened to one snippet and the solo on it sounded tighter than anything Kirk played on the singles.
I can wait 36 hours for the cinema release.

Doesn't matter if it is a solo on Master of puppets album or on Lulu. And it applies not only in Metallica but in music in general. Soloing (whether you actually compose a solo or do whatever Kirk does nowadays) is an addition to an already existing composition. In rock/metal music in general in order to be credited as a songwriter you have to create new melody, chord progression or just create foundation of a song. I can write write and compose song and lyrics, then left 30 seconds of space, send it to a professional guitarist, he can put a solo in there and that doesn't mean that he can be attributed as a songwriter. If that was the case Kirk would be a songwriter on every song od first 5 albums (except NEM) which obviously is not a case. |

Still there’s no excuse for the Lux solo. I really don’t appreciate it, and if I look at it from a guitar players perspective then it’s absolutely ridiculous. It’s pure wank with no content, structure or any kind of beginning, middle or end. Fingers crossed for the other songs in that aspect. |
