Same here, Lars really shows his importance and vitality to the band in these videos.

I think they said or staff said that there was nothing filmed on the making ofs and was a tight closed ship.

I think they said or staff said that there was nothing filmed on the making ofs and was a tight closed ship. Really? I missed that. But I’m not surprised. Especially since James has declined to do interviews. Sounds like he’s gonna be on Stern though.

To anyone who was thinking the band was quiet in the media in March... I'm suddenly finding it impossible to keep up with the amount of press and interviews coming out.

I think they said or staff said that there was nothing filmed on the making ofs and was a tight closed ship. Well Covid-19 + the shy version of James doesn’t make a good fit for stuff like this. Even the unwrapping vid is without his face in the frame. Or at least the bit I saw

Making of would be a bunch of choppy zoom clips with them sitting around in their underwear.

Not having a "making of" vid this go around confirms this sense of unpredictabily that I've always loved about this band.
By the way, I'm getting superhyped right now with the interviews piling up. I'm trying to avoid reviews, though.

I am so stoked for this release now, after not allowing myself to get excited, after not having a massive reaction to SS and Darkness.
I listened to them all in sequence today, and then again, and again... Holy shit it all works. Incredibly well.
James' vocals are absolutely insane. I feel like he has a much more raw and real tone than on HWTSD. And even though the production is quite similar, there are some interesting and subtle differences. Cool little BV's, Robs bass thing at the end of Darkness... There are also cool little NWOBHM vibes in there, in 72 as well, which is adding a cool throwback feel.
I am excited to hear this whole record. Maybe, just maybe it will knock HWTSD out of the park.
One can hope!

So how do y'all approach a new Metallica album? Do you listen to it from start to finish? Or savor one song at a time?

Perfectly put. There's something about these songs that feels more connected than DM and HTSD ever were, which both felt like "let's write some songs and pull an album from it". Something here feels more planned and put together from the get go, in a huge part due to James' lyrics.

So how do y'all approach a new Metallica album? Do you listen to it from start to finish? Or savor one song at a time? With all new albums I'll usually listen 1-2 times straight through and then go back to anything I can't get out of my head. Sometimes I'll listen to like 10 seconds of a particularly hyped up song to tease myself first - I remember Dream No More was getting raved about on the forums before I got the leak, so when I got it, I listened to about 15 seconds just to get myself amped up since the album started with two of the singles I already knew.

So how do y'all approach a new Metallica album? Do you listen to it from start to finish? Or savor one song at a time? I'll listen to the audio 2 or 3 times before watching the videos of the 8 newer songs, if the album hasn't leaked by that time. Then I'll listen to just the newer 8 songs and watch their videos again. Only then will I head over to the forum or read the reviews.

So how do y'all approach a new Metallica album? Do you listen to it from start to finish? Or savor one song at a time? It'll be tempting to jump straight to track 2, but I'll be good and listen from start to finish. For the mp3 download, can you download it at midnight your local time? I'm hoping that they upload each video, in order, on YouTube the night before during the cinema screening. I imagine they would do this to avoid some guy uploading half the album to his channel while still sitting in the theater.

It could leak in five minutes from now. We're at that point and that close now.

I haven't decided if I want the theater to be my first experience with the album, or if I'd listen to a leak. I'm leaning towards yes just to curb my excitement, but also because I've cooled off on experiencing it at the theater for the first time vs my own setup.

I think this might be the true St. Anger album or a proper St. Anger sequel. Themes of sadness, grief, pain, addiction, separation, and redemption.
Not saying this was their direct intention, but they're in a similar state of mind. With James going back to rehab and COVID separating the band and creating mass confusion on a global scale.

I bought 2 tix for this, mainly because its unique. However, I would normally tell everyone in the house to leave "its only 90minutes, seeya soon!" and listen through with cold beers at the ready. This will still happen but yeah, no longer the 1st listen. And the theatre thing goes 100% against my preference to absorb the new music without visuals. To be honest, I am hoping for interviews somewhere in this screening, "hi Lars!" which swayed me to get involved with this premiere deal. (Was very funny when a few of us went to Big4 screening and Lars was babbling away and some guy down front yelled "Shut the fuck up Lars"...i chuckled)

Hoping there's a TDTNC or Halo type song on there, what are the reviews saying?

I'm not going to the theatre premiere, but, I just woke up from a dream and we were all in line and heading in excited. The tv VJ host who was hosting the event was asking us what we thought of the 4 singles and which was our favorite. Then I woke up and here I am smoking in the rain with my gimpy eye.
Yes, there are multiple interviews in a lot of the articles being posted on the other forum.
I'm interested in the listing party at the record store near me. That seems more my vibe then the theatre thing and I can sneak out to smoke during IDHAS and be feet from the door instead of climbing down a thousand flights of stairs to exit the cinema and all that. Have you guys checked the listening party map for a participating record store near you?

Normally a theatre thing is not my thing either, but I will assume this will be packed only with hardcores.
I’m hoping for an awesome vibe with people headbanging and playing air drums. Will be having my share of beers before too.
Will probably attend the listening party near me as well

I'll probably just end up drunk in the Walmart parking lot alone, having my own little party with the seagulls.

I just want people who get the leak to reassure me it’s really good and have me excited for a few songs. I can’t get a good feel from these ridiculous mainstream reviews right now.
