My current hope is that the song has an intro that doesn't involve snare rolls. Something like Battery or That Was Just Your Life that builds up to the song would be nice.
I feel this is going to a very snare roll heavy album.

At the same time, the teaser for the new song was released. That teaser is the most promising one, I admit. So I am getting more hyped everyday. But we'll see their replay value. I think Hardwired songs are still sounding as good as the first time. I mean if you enjoyed the songs then, they probably still sound good enough. Anyway, 45 minutes left. Let's see. |

I thought song lengths were shiwn way back when we first saw titles. Dreaming? I'm sure they were fake. Ever since Lux came out, there's been speculation as to the running time on the boards. Speaking or memory, were SS and Darkness announced (did they have a release date), or did they drop out of nowehere? I do remember Darkness had 4 little clips of the four members, one after the other to showcase the intro. But did they have a date like 72 Seasons? All's happening so fast I csn't seem to recall those details... Lol. |

But once again they bloated the fuck out of what could have been epic. Everytime it gets going and I was all into it, it slows down a notch, and that big build up in the middle felt like when your lady is riding you and you're almost there, and then you slip out.

It feels like 2 songs smashed together. The fast thrashy ones with the intro and middle part, and song 2, the verses and sludgy breakdown bridge things.

I don't know what it is, but I have yet to be amazed by any of these tracks. Like, I'm totally hyped up, but it don't get overly excited when hearing the songs.
Cannot tell if it's just an age thing by now or if it's simply because the material is not as good.
When I heard Moth the first time I was grinning all over the face and immediately wanted to listen to it again and again and again.
After the first spin of 72 Seasons I went to Spotify and listened without video, midways through the song I had already dozed of and thought about other things.
I hate that, I wanna feel like a kid again, and these songs doesn't do that for me. Maybe it's just not possible to achieve that feeling anymore.

The arrangement is wack.
The natural flow is disrupted so often.
If you laid out all the parts on a chart and mapped it out, it would look off balanced everywhere. Prime example is once the song kicks in with the sick speed riff and they tease it for only 2 bars instead of the natural 4 bars it belongs in, and they drop to the mid tempo. Had it gone the full 4 with a nice fill to bring in the midtempo part it would have felt natural and not so jarring and disappointing.
Or the middle part just going on for an extra 4 times when the flow only needed half the space of that part before introducing another layer.
I had lots and lots of similar feelings about SS at first, but now I it, so I'll need to sit on it for a few listens.

It's more than ever evident that they are piercing parts together instead of writing a coherent song from start to finish.
It's basically a puzzle where the pieces doesn't really fit but are forced together, mostly with rough and strange transitions

I liked it. That screechy intro was cool and I really hope that makes it into the record. Doesn't sound all that bloated to me though the ending could've been trimmed a bit (maybe end it during the 7 minute mark and scrap that breakdown). The solos while not amazing actually sound like some thought was put into them. Vocals were on point and so was the video. I still prefer Screaming Suicide but this is a pretty close second.
