Did you just mention All nightmare long as being good? It is, there are no bad songs on DM, there's definitely some filler on HWTSD though. All nightmare long is waaaaaaay too long. Filler to me.

Screaming Suicide doesn't seem to be doing very well in terms of metrics. Doesn't help that YouTube put a content warning on the video, lol

Screaming Suicide doesn't seem to be doing very well in terms of metrics. Doesn't help that YouTube put a content warning on the video, lol Suicide is apparently a banned word on YouTube, using it in the title or even the description is a surefire way to catch a ton of restrictions, find the video entirely removed from being recommended by the algorithm, etc. and what's worse is Metallica's tune even discusses the topic in a way that's probably a massive no-no on YouTube. The algorithm is everything for views so if it's blacklisted then it might as well not exist for the most part. YouTubers discussing or covering Suicide and Redemption ran into this exact issue before; it's a little ironic to see the band itself fall prey to the insanity that is YouTube's automated content moderation system. But that's how it goes in the 20s, the decade of computers moderating humans.

I don't think the song was intended to be some breakthrough hit single. It's there for the fans who know where to find it. I'm sure there was some round table discussion with the guys, but aimed at James, explaining to him how these things work now a days, and he didn't give a shit, just wanted his message out there.

I would hate acting like that in front of a camera, I bet James hates it too

Timing wise with the last single and when movie tickets go on sale, we could get a new song next week.

Maybe it’s because I don’t really follow them that close anymore, and the fact that I don’t follow their social accounts,, but I kinda feel disconnected from the band these days.
Usually there are all sorts of videos, behind the scenes, babbles, video blogs, metontour, interviews etc stuff. Stuff that makes you feel kinda close with the guys in a way.
I can’t remember the last time I saw an interaction between Lars and James that wasn’t on a stage. This video made me realise that I hardly know anything about their current state. James looks way older than in my mind. It’s not like I’m interested in their hair style and all that crap, but this disconnection is very much affecting my interest in the band.
Maybe I’m just getting old and more concerned with other shit that I don’t see these things. I usually check out the stuff that gets posted here though, but I it doesn’t seem there’s a lot in that regard either.

My Metallica passion peaked in the DM era. Really fun time to follow the band. I'm excited about 72 Seasons but not as jazzed as I feel like I should be. I think Screaming Suicide put a damper on my hype a bit.

I usually check out the stuff that gets posted here though, but I it doesn’t seem there’s a lot in that regard either. I think they've been making a conscious effort to put back up all the barriers between fans and band that they spent the the 15-20 years prior removing. All the behind the scenes fly-on-the-wall videos of them in the studio like we had with St. Anger and DM are long gone. Tuning room videos are official retired. No meet and greet videos...hell no more meet and greets at all with the full band anymore. No backstage footage at all. MetOnTour is just highly produced and edited performance videos (which do sound great though). No MetClub, no SoWhat magazines. Not even really many interviews with the band at all. They've basically closed any windows in, they just focus on their touring, and obviously new album. The only other times we get any videos of them is when they're advertising their whiskey, cigars, boots, beach towels, etc...

I wouldn't be surprised if they burnt themselves out on it. Looking back on some of those early tour videos, and going back even further to the Fan Cans in the 90s, Metallica were innovators in how a band talked to their audience by 15+ years. But nowadays a lot of artists will have talking heads on Instagram or Tik Tok to their fans. Combine that with their age, it'd make sense that they're closing the door on that level of interactivity in exchange for extremely highly produced performance videos that very few bands offer.
That being said, please please please give me making of videos for 72 Seasons. I'm not optimistic about them, but I also remember thinking they wouldn't exist for HTSD either.

Metallica has always had that element of unpredictability which keeps everyone on their toes. They've reacted to their previous endeavours in opposite ways numerous times. This recent U-turn (no talk or traditional campaigns) people are commenting on may be to surprise everybody once again. Let's remember that with "72 Seasons" they went further than with "Hardwired" and announced a new album and tour out of nowehere.
A new song is rumoured to drop some time next week.

Cool. Where was this screenshot taken from? This happened last time didn't it? Same guy who leaked Screaming Suicide on Reddit. I believe its from Apple Music but there was evidence in Metallica's website last time which we don't have for this so take this with a grain of salt.
