The vocalist is going to make or break this. I feel like there’s always offshoot bands like this that pop up, and the vocalist sinks the thing. Thinkin bout Damageplan.

Apparently the band will be called 'Kerry King' which is kinda ridiculous, they should've used the name of a Slayer song to name themselves imo.

It's here:
Kerry + Paul Bostaph, Phil Demmel, Kyle Sanders, and Mark from Death Angel on vocals. Kerry/Paul/Phil/Tom was the Slayer lineup at one point, so he really did just replace Tom. The song kinda rules, not gonna lie.

Sounds like the best Slayer cover band ever. Vocals sound very close to Tom's. Live, I'm sure they will bust out some classic Slayer songs, and after a few beers, I'm sure you won't know the difference. I'm digging this, that's some predictable, yet killer riffing.

Tour just announced with Mastadon and Lamb of God. They really dropped the ball in my area though, the Connecticut and New Hampshire shows are the same time as Metallica in Massachusetts. I'm sure that'll have an impact on sales.

I'm hoping there are better songs on the rest of the KK album, idle hands is encouraging though.

Yawn.
100% what I was thought it was going to be. Bland and uninspired.
But he's doing what he loves so good for him, I guess.

So any knowledge on Death Angel? Have they got any good albums? Their vocalist is decent for the KK project.

Marketing ploy for Kerry’s band, a money grab, or both.

Whilst this is good news, KK's writing isn't really as good as JH's. Not sure what else they could do...

Tbh if they're setting the precedent that the band isn't dead in the water and open to doing festivals here and there, that's cool. I never really understood the whole retirement thing before they were 60, but I think Tom wanted to send the message that he really doesn't want to tour anymore. I'm expecting them to be headlining Aftershock but that's really it.

If I'm correct, Slayer got really screwed out of royalties. If the band, on paper, seased to exist, wouldn't prior contracts be void? Opening up the possibility to make sick cash on their terms now that the "retired" label increases the demand for come back shows?

I think they'd have to rename the band(basically create an entirely new business) to void any contracts, otherwise they'd be obligated to fulfill the prior ones.

Phil Demmel is the best part of this band. Cool to see him soloing in both songs so far!

It's like if World painted blood and God hates us all had a baby.
It's cool, but everything about this project just feels like a Slayer redo. I like it though, just nothing that special.

Even the singer kind of bothers me.i am unfamiliar with his previous work, and in any other or past work wouldn't think much wrong with him or his style, but in this context, it's like his delivery and "vibe" is so Tom Araya. This project feels like I'm watching Kerry King playing with the best.t ever Slayer tribute band, and they are playing never before heard Slayer songs.

I agree, it sounds like something off Repentless too, thumbs down for this KK project so far. I learned today that the two songs from the Repentless sessions (Rage and the title track) weren't just written then, they lifted Kerry and Paul's parts from 2015. I thought they were just old Slayer songs they reworked. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/kerry-king-slayer-idle-hands-from-hell-i-rise-1234951010/It's funny that Kerry isn't even pretending to not be salty that Tom didn't want to make the Repentless follow-up.

Kerry's such an idiot omg. So it's him playing bass on the later Slayer albums? Did I read that right?
