I listened to that Gorija album on the way home last night 👍 It is the album that made me a fan. And still remains to be my favourite after all these years. I was planning to do the same this morning but my wife tricked me into a morning chat and I forgot to play the album.

Five Finger Death Punch - A decade of destruction These guys are pretty good. Some songs (Trouble and others) have a Stone Sour vibe. I gave it a listen. It was cool. They are one of those bands that I hardly care for an entire album but compilations are usually very enjoyable.

Some compilations are really good but the entire catalog of said bands is just the same songs all over again.

Slipknot - We Are Not Your Kind
It's a good album. I'm not much of a Slipknot fan but they have songs that I like. This album has stellar production. After the few initial listens, I thought th first half is stronger.
Pain of Salvation - In the Passing Light of Day
It is one of their best works. Awesome from start to finish. They are one of the few bands that could take you from sorrow and sadness to joy and beauty, and from love to anger in few minutes and often at the same time.

Sting - My Songs (2019)
Remixed/rerecorded collection of his hits. Has a live feel which is interesting. Decent 7/10.

Maraton - Meta Really good modern, poppy prog rock. Some people here might be intrigued by obvious Leprous influences, and there's also a few nods towards Muse.
Eternal Storm - Come the Tide Up-and-coming melodeath band from Spain with a solid debut full-length. It's easy to drop usual suspects like (early) Insomnium, In Mourning and Opeth as comparisons, but there's also some interesting ideas you don't often hear in this type of music.

Been listening to Soen and Anathema a lot lately. I'll see Soen on 3rd and Anathema on 7th of September. I have been a big fan of Anathema ever since I first heard Sleepless and Forgotten Hopes. Their change in style did not bother me much as I actually love prog rock more than alt rock&death-metal. They have done everything right so far. Whatever style they immersed themselves in, they delivered top quality albums.
As for Soen, they are good. No doubt about it. Somehow a cross between Tool and Opeth (and bands like Deadsoul Tribe and Karnivool). However, they are developing their own Soen sound.
A lot more straightforward than Opeth although some riffs are very reminiscient of Lopez' Opeth days, and some vocals are definately inspired by Maynard James Keenan.
I'm pretty sure they will be much better and probably heavier during a live set.
Soen - Lotus
It's a good album. Production is better than the previous one. The sound is more Soen than their previous works. But I suppose the previous album had more teeth if you know what I mean.

Soen was on Tuesday. They were amazing. The band is great. Vocalist Joel Ekelöf is a good singer. His voice isn't very powerful but he definately knows how to control it. And the band members are top musicians. It was a great gig.
*
Soen - Lykaia: I think this is stll my favouritE Soen album.
Soen - Lotus: Another brilliant album by them.
These guys are developing their sound really successfully.
Jin,

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Ghosteen
Fantastic album. Similar in style to his last album Skeleton Tree, which I loved.

Cradle of Filth have remixed and Remastered "Cruelty and the Beast". The first track released the other day sounds light years better than the original album version. The drums have weight now and the overall dynamics of all the tracks have been much improved. Can't wait to hear the full album. Engel

IQ - Resistance: It's a very good, classy neo prog rock album.
Opeth - In Cauda Venenum: Very, very good.
Bryan Beller - Scenes from the Flood: The bassist for Satriani, the Aristocrats, Dethklok e.t.c released a prog rock double album. It is pretty good. Prog rock fans definately check the song 'World Class'. Also it feautures guest appearances by Petrucci, Govan, Gene Hoglan, Ray Hearne among others

Awesome. I picked up my copy yesterday, hoping to sit down with it tonight.
I bought the deluxe version with both English and Swedish versions. Did you listen to each one Jorn? opinions?

I listened to the English version a few times but have not completed the Swedish version yet. People say Swedish version sounds more natural. I am thinking about buying that version as well but due to ridiculous exchange rates, I kinda force myself to stop every time I decide to order. Ordering these new releases online has become really difficult. Tool's new album reached to more than a 100£ on amazon uk. It was already pricy due to the screen they included but it is just insane. Back to Opeth...what is your favourite song on the new album?

Back to Opeth...what is your favourite song on the new album? First listen was last night and I chose to listen to the Swedush version first as it was marked as Disc 1 (which might confirm a comment I read stating the Swedish version is the "truer" version ). Was a lot to take in, moreso with a foreign language!, but I get the feeling this is gonna be a favourite. Favourite track after only one play through , would be Track 8 "Banemannen". Album has many lighter moments with some very nice sounding guitars, I'll be listening again today and expect to become more familiar with the songs when in English I paid a little more than what I would normally be happy with but the 2 Disc version seemed to be unavailable in most of my usual places I shop, so ordered it and paid express to get it here before the weekend. I'm still yet to buy their recent live set because the price remains high.
