The Beatles' discography (minus the cover songs). Before I had never heard a full album by them and I had 18 favourite songs. Now I have 47 favourite songs. : D

Swallow the Sun - When a Shadow Is Forced into the Light
Far and away their best album. Clean vocals are generally the more dominant style here, and because the singer isn't a loud and high kind of guy, this means the music is not quite as heavy and more atmospheric compared to their earlier work. Vocal melodies are also markedly improved, which is a big reason why this is such a good album.

Down - NOLA
It's somewhere between good and very good. But there are times it gets weaker. No where near a perfect album.

Evergrey - The Atlantic
This is one of the best albums of Evergrey. 10/10 from start to finish. I've been listening to a lot lately.

Five Finger Death Punch - A decade of destruction
These guys are pretty good. Some songs (Trouble and others) have a Stone Sour vibe.

@awake, I will check that album. Sometimes all I need is a straightforward heavy album. And they deliver it pretty decent.
*
Rendezvous Point - Universal Chaos: A young prog rock/metal band from Norway. Baard Kolstad is their drummer. I've been keeping an eye on them for a whil and decided to give their new album a listen. Pretty decent work. Easy to get into and it has a bit darker vibes than I expected. Not very heavy. Good keyboard work in terms of atmosphere and you've got Kolstad as the drummer. Jordan Rudess gave a nod to them as well.
Leprous- Malina: This album has grown on me a lot. I even managed to get my vinyl signed by the band. Einar Solberg is an extremely talented song writer and a performer. Very good album. I love the cover art as well.
Camille Saint-Saens - Piano Concertos 4&5: One of my favourite composers. It makes me concentrate on what I do and think with a clear mind. I love concerto no 4 op.44, r.197 I .
Arjen Anthony Lucassen - Lost in the New Real: A Pretty decent solo effort by Arjen. Very Pink Floyd-ish, sometimes small heavy bits which satisfies a lot, relaxing, sci-fi influened and at times quite soothing. A nice listen for sure. Especially if you like his work and neoclassic prog rock.

Voyager - The Meaning of I:
I have mixed opinions on them. They are good. No doubt about that. I enjoy their work a lot. Having said that, they kind of lose me at times. Especially when I expect them to go heavier but they go softer, poppier if it makes any sense. Interesting album for sure. I will listen to Ghost Mile ( their most recent output).

@awake, I will check that album. Sometimes all I need is a straightforward heavy album. And they deliver it pretty decent. Yes, my favourites are Trouble, Wash it all away, Jekyll and Hyde and Under and over it. The other sonfs are good but more 'mellow', more like a 'power ballad'. I remember everything and Coming down are awesome too. EDIT: I forgot Lift Me Up with Rob Halford

Heresy - Blasphemia

So this will make everyone laugh but I have NEVER listened to tool properly. I've heard the odd song etc but never given their albums a front to back listen...
Just started now with their first album. First thoughts are, how good is the production?! Also, it sounds like it could have been an album that came out yesterday. I can definitely see the influence of a lot of current bands...

I think for me it's more of that style of music just doesn't grab me. It does sound awesome, killer production, brilliant musicians and song writers but just not that memorable for me. I couldn't remember one tune I listened to today. That being said I will continue to give them a spin and see if they grow on me or any other tracks stand out. Tldr; It's not them it's me haha

I like generic simple rock music. In before Toolfan says it.

I wish I was able to pick up Aenima for the first time again. Check your pulse if you don't love that one. Albums listened: The Angels - Howling.....strong album from the Brewster brothers, they brought in some brass for this record and there's really not a dud track anywhere. (EDIT - only one Brewster bro on this album, John only has a few credits - I had to go check after posting this) The Living End - Debut self titled.....kicking arse from the get go, more people need to know about Chris Cheney and his Gretsch

Yngwie Malmsteen - Blue Lightning
Decent. Kinda weird. I like my blues minimalistic. The production here fits Malmsteen's style which is the exact opposite of what I like. However I liked what he did. Especially I liked the title song.
Tool - Aenima
I like this one a lot more than Undertow. When you listen to their albums in order, it is awesome to follow their transition to the current form of Tool. Album by album. Makes it very interesting.
Gojira - The Way of All Flesh
My favourite by them.
Russian Circles - Blood Year
I liked this a lot more than the previous album. Milano and Quartered are among the best they have ever done. I love this band.
I also listen to a lot of Turkish rap lately.
