booooooo your country has had so many great bands/artists. ungrateful pom! That's why I'm allowed to say it Honestly this list is pretty cringeworthy. Try-hard from someone that doesn't have a clue. The Beatles are one of my favourite bands and I could make a better, more accurate and funnier "100 reasons why the Beatles suck" list than this without having to invoke the chili peppers (Jesus Christ), Busted and Herman's Hermits. Harry Nilsson and The Zombies are the names you want to drop if we're talking none-Beatles Beatles albums as good or better than The Beatles. "They were a bunch of big gaylords"... really?

It seems like it's supposed to be tongue-in-cheek but most of it is painfully unfunny. And if it is actually serious that just makes it even more awful. They actually insinuate that Kiss are better than The Beatles, and shortly after saying that The Beatles are "money-grubbing bastards." These people aren't even trying.

the 4 cd Pure McCartney is in an A5 size booklet. there are only about 10 songs that I don't really care for & there are 67 songs. I f*cking love 'Say Say Say', Paul & Michael's voices together... just wonderful to listen to. it's a funky song too. Off The Wall is my fav. MJ album. I don't have any of Georges solo stuff. I did own a 3cd box release of All Things Must Pass but for some reason I just couldn't get into that album maybe I didn't give it enough listens. I gave it to my shrink a few months ago as I hadn't played it in 16 years he already has the album of course. but this 3 cd set was in a nice little box and it was like new. I have John's albums on cd but I don't have any outtakes. I haven't listened to his solo stuff in years. 'Mother' is one of my favourite songs by him. I checked out the remix of Say Say Say on youtube, always loved that song, was cool that those 2 big names were writing together like that. All Things Must Pass was originally a 3LP set, unusual especially for then. I really rate it, he was sitting on some good material when the Beatles fragmented. So much to absorb from one release may be why you found it difficult to get into....I tend to ignore the live part of the set. I reckon you'd really enjoy that Lennon box if you like his first solo songs so much.

Yeah it's clearly in jest but... 100 opportunities to make me laugh, 0% success rate.

I'm overloaded on music at the moment. I have stuff arriving in the mail and also picked up nearly 2 dozen albums from a CD/vinyl fair held the other weekend.
Finally got around to hearing the last Mastodon album, and so far it feels really good. Last track is killer, but whole album feels really strong. I can see I'll be listening to this one a bit over next couple of weeks. Other stuff I picked up includes some compilations of Dion, Lou Reed, Yardbirds, Small Faces. Picked up Van Halen 5150 and an AC/DC rarites boxset. Also South of Heaven and couple of Neurosis albums. Down II is in the pile, doesn't seem as strong as Nola though.

Steven Wilson - To the bone
First few songs before "Refuge" and the "don't be afraid" part of the last song are borderline pedestrian, but overall the rest make the album worth its while.

Threshold - Legends of the Shires
Great album. Threshold has been on fire recently and the songwriting is really solid once again. I liked Damian Wilson as the singer, but I think Glynn Morgan is a better fit for this band and he does a great job here.

I really want to give that albu ma listen since I have been a long time Threshold fan but sadly, I can only give it a half assed listen due to time contstraints. It's a double album and I really don't want to do that. Having said the songs I listened to have been quite good with oen exception. Can't remember the name but it was pretty straightforward. one of the singles, I suppose.

The second disc unfortunately has several songs similar to that one, and the first is definitely the better side. At least disc 2 has Lost in Translation.

Trivium's new album is pretty great, best since Shogun imo. Sons of Apollo is decent too; the less proggy tracks are meh, but the rest are cool.

The only track I'm really disappointed by is Endless Night. The rest is pretty killer. I dunno if it quite beats In Waves or not (need more listens), but it certainly stands alongside Ascendency, Shogun and In Waves as one of their best.
