I wouldn't honestly mind a full new cover album. The problem that I see with it though is that they're really slow in the studio these days compared to the 90s. Garage Inc. was arranged and recorded extremely fast so that they could get it out in time during 1998, but there's no such time pressure for them today meaning they'd likely overthink the hell out of it and spend nearly as long recording it as they would a real studio album. At that point I think I'd rather have new music instead.

I’m elated they brought that back out. The second weekend is really gonna determine how interesting this tour will be to follow.

A Metallica cover used to be a thing of beauty. I can live without them now. The last one I remember is Remember Tomorrow. Ronnie Rising was pretty cool, you should check that out.

When a blind man cries was also a cool choice (a fav DP song of mine) but Lars overcooked the drums again....such a shame

With Deep Purple being his favorite band you'd think he'd do better. I wouldn't say it's the worst. Remember Tomorrow is honestly even worse in my book since it doesn't even feel like it has any sense of dynamics. When A Blind Man Cries at least had him use a ride like in the original for the softer sections even if it was also a snare roll jubilee. Remember Tomorrow also sounds like shit.

LOS would be one of the best songs on Hardwired if the lyrics weren’t so silly. Still wish it was on disc two somewhere, too bad Greg pushed for it to not be included.

ManUnKind is one of the few stand out songs on HWTSD. It has its own identity within the album, it's uniqueness, and that's why I enjoy it. Halo, Hardwired, ManUnKind, Spit, Moth, Dream, all sound like individual songs. Pretty much the rest of the album sounds like the same song slightly altered.
And yes, the video is definitely one of the most interesting takes on a Metallica video created. Awesome stuff.

I kind of was surprised when Lars did that off time hi-hat thing at the mid-way part. That was creative. He could have totally played it in 4/4 all the way through.

Not having heard this song in… 5 years, I don’t recall any interesting section drum wise. Which part are you referring to ?

The whole middle section is killer. The bouncy parts are fun, but, the beat does make it hard to digest.

I know this horse is well and thoroughly beaten by now, but I was randomly reminded of this and while listening to various Lulu riffs and parts and then contrasting them with HTSD and 72S, all I can say is why. Just why.

Lulu still has some of the best and most creative riffs of the "modern" era. Junior Dad is a great song but it could have been a masterpiece on a proper Metallica album.

Just why. I mean, There are a few good riffs on Lulu, but let's not get carried away here. Could parts of The View, Dragon and Pumping Blood have made some pretty sweet Metallica songs? sure but it's hardly worth spending the energy lamenting over. Cool riffs are a dime a dozen with this band. Lars and James have thrown away and forgotten more good riffs than most bands come up with in an entire career.
