Inspired by the random thoughts thread, I thought it might be a good a idea to have one here. You can simply share you thoughts on all things Metallica related which may not require a thread of it's own. The reason I got this idea was because I'm currently getting ready for a wet night out, so I thought I would pep myself up a little with some Metallica. It's been... Long, since I listened to anything Metallica live related so I put on the Quebec dvd and holy moly they do play their songs fast I was shaving while The End Of The Line was on and I almost felt stressed listening to it. Horsemen is damn fast also Normally I don't find anything weird about it, but since it's been months since I listened last I almost got a shock. Apparently it's the national gin day, or the something gin something, or maybe it's just an excuse. Anyways I'm gonna get pissed now, cheers

Sometimes it hits me that Kirk is the reason I ever decided to try and play lead guitar. It almost makes me annoyed when people trash him, but thankfully, my rational brain kicks in and reminds me I don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks.

The way Jaymz is playing the chuggy chords (right before the long power chords) with his fretting hand on FWTBT on the 1985 Day on the grean version, makes me hard to believe, he is an actual human. His hand motions look SO robotic and precise, and that man was drunk that day, what the damn? That is one thing I ALWAYS wonder about

I love Metallica and will do until I shuffle off this mortal coil. I can criticise them, see their faults, support them, step away from them for months on end. But, when it boils down to it, this is my fav. band of all time.

I literally never knew that the final 'goodbye' James sings in "Fade to Black" was part of the studio version until a few months ago. I always thought it was an ad lib James had made part of performing it live. It wasn't until I listened to the song on Spotify that I heard it loud and clear. Went back to the version I have on iTunes (ripped off my CD) and that vocal part is really quiet. Obviously I hear it clear as day now.

It always strikes me as funny how accustomed I get to knowing and hearing certain opinions about Metallica songs on here/Metallica Forum. I once told my wife lots of folks said DM was "too happy," which I was just used to hearing. She responded that I should stop hanging out with those "fucking retards."

After years of listening to Fade, I remember very clearly the night I heard that 2nd quiet "goodbye". Just a couple of us out in the middle of nowhere, already a bit spooked and then..... goodbye

I'm not looking at any more boxset openings or samplers but I did watch the Whiplash vid they put up.
Cliff was something special. Its easy to say he was amazing, RIP, etc, etc, but damn we were robbed of the chance to see what else he would have done (with or without Metallica)

Through the Never is now on Netflix, I watched some of it last night, haven't seen it since I saw it in the theatre. Still just as awesome. The mix is incredible. Do Metallica get money each time someone hits play?

I'm thinking they aired the wrong song, but not the Metallica one, something else. So someone edited it ? ah didn't see you comment before posting, I think it's fake too

After watching the Record Store video, Lars is actually improving. James is still great, his voice is improving, and Rob is flawless as usual.
Kirk though, jesus.

Full show first song, Kirk plays the solo like a 12 year old with 3 weeks guitar experience, who kind of knows how it's supposed to go... Jesus wept

He gets better, but that's not saying much.

James' vocals are outstanding on this. Love how he's singing Ride the Lightning.

its like he forgot how to even play That actually wasn't part of the official setlist. Lars started the beat, Kirk joined in as did James. If you notice Rob looks confused as he didn't know the song (James even makes reference to this later in the set). It was an off-the-cuff jam that turned into a stab at the song. The gig should have started with Lights.

He's 53 and has arthritis.
Also, sure he's not what he was in the late 80s and 90s, but he was always sloppy.
Kirk has written great solos and he's one of my favorite guitarists, but he's never been one to hit his solos note for note live.

It was alright, not as bad as I was expecting by they way some of you are you are taking. Overall cool vibe. Not as many fuck ups as usual, h t then again, it was a quarter of a full set. If I was there I'd be more then happy.
James dedicating Jump in the fire for all those who have left us was odd, like what, they all should burn in hell or something? Ha.

Lars has a new kit in the record store vid. Would love to know what it is. Probably still maple?
At least it 's a sign that the record's actually done or almost done.
Edit-checked the Tama site and he's still listed as using the orange sparkle. This is probably the same kit w/o the wrap.

RANDOM METALLICA THOUGHT that occured today.
Is it because Metallica was the first metal band I got into back in the day when getting into metal music, but it always seems to come down to the fact that Metallica is the best in the end of the day... (or is it, I don't know... nor do I have to.) Is it a sentimental thing or what...

It probably looks a little more brownish, but that's just because of the lighting in the room, I think.

Consensus wins. It looked like lacquer finished shells to me, but I guess that was just b/c of the resolution I watched the vid in.
