Today youtube recommended this to me, and although I don't follow this guy nor like his kind of content, he is pretty right about everithing he's said in this video.
Kirk sounds so lame in that interview and gives everything the haters need for continue to mock him...

Kirk obviously hurt this guys baby feelings. I thought exactly the opposite. To me it was Kirk, one of the most comercialy successful guitarists in the world, who felt butthurt with something said by a nobody from YouTube. Really odd move from Kirk, giving the spotlight to guys like those, right in the middle of the launching of the new album. He fell for it like a child instead of just ignoring it... And the worst part is that the guy is right. Luckily for him, the Metallica brand is too strong to take a significant hit from something like that, but nevertheless it just seems like really bad PR to do things like that in the era of the cancel culture.

It won't even register beyond a small group of people. Their brand is quite safe and as far as PR, lol

It would be really cool if Metallica took Jason's band out on tour with them for a small run. An olive branch sort of, not that it's necessary, but it would be cool and kind of up the competitive edge. And Jason could pop out for a guest performance near the end of a set like they did with all kinds of legends a few tours back.

I just picked up my guitar and started playing Here Comes Revenge, what a fun riff that main one is. I still hate the chorus, but I get it a little more now. I still think he got off to easy for dropping out of Soundwave unannounced.

Wish he'd resurrect Echobrain instead. Far more interesting that Newsted (the band). Kirk obviously hurt this guys baby feelings. Kirk obviously hurt this guys baby feelings. It actually had nothing to do with Bradley Hall's video at all. The GuitarWorld article linked ot his video to imply that it was the one Kirk was talking about but he wasn't specifically citing that. Kirk was talking about those kind of videos in general.

Still, we have Kirk effin Hammet, The Ripper himself, letting some random YouTube videos get under his skin... Kirk's playing nowadays sucks big time, but he shouldn't be responding to this shit. He should just ignore it or try to get better and answer to it by playing well. Trying to disqualify other players or guitar techniques (many of which he sucks at, by the way), and giving lame excuses about musical choices when, in reality, it's just him being lazy AF for the last 15 years... Well, this is not the way.

I didn't even bother to check his solo, but now that you've pointed it out I did watch his take... And it's really terrible. He manages to technically outplay Kirk in every way and, despite that, ended up with a worse solo. Kirk's version is indeed better (shockingly)

People have been saying that Kirk and Metallica suck for at least 30 years, all while he and the band continue to be massively successful. Yes, yes, we all know that the counter-argument to this is that success is not a yardstick for how good you are, but if success in metal was predicated on how hard you can shred, then you'd never have heard of Dimebag Darrell, nor Kerry King or Eddie Van Halen, because the person on the front of Guitar World every year, getting his dick sucked in arena changing rooms around the world and having a whole other bus just for his drugs would be, [AUSTISTIC KOREAN TEENAGER].

Wow that solo by that Whoeverthefuck McWhatshisface was bad. It didn't fit the song AT ALL. Does he know ANYTHING about music, other than sterile, soulless technical guitar wankery?

The solo in Lux is great. it is very fitting, has life, and doesn't over stay it's welcome. Could it be more technical, yes, but whatever, Kirks is just fine the way it is. I watch Bradley's videos all the time, he's a pretty funny guy and has some great content that is fun to watch. Guy has some skill set, but yeah, he's not Kirk, he's some smelly British guy at home.

Remember when he popped up again with the Chophouse Band and then that just dissipated. Fair enough that it may not have been a particularly serious thing, but that's to my speculation that the passion isn't there as it once had been. He's minted so he can afford only to do these things when he feels like it, but at the same time it wouldn't be cool to make a big commitment and then lose interest halfway through its execution.

Are they using the vocal track from James from the track when Rob is singing backup vocals on "Wrath of man"? If not, wow.

A TV appearance is probably the ideal setting to sing in if you're warmed up, so I just think James is sounding super good right now. I wouldn't expect him to sound like that for a full 16 song show though.
But what are those pre-recorded backing vocals doing lmao

Why not just play the song without needing to perfect things, I will always prefer a raw version. You have the studio rec to hear the song as they want you to hear it, but live performances I dont want edits and things stitched together.
If its about being called out for a poor vocal or drumfill, well you get just as much shit for tweaking things, maybe moreso.
I dont think we are heading down a dark path of lypsyncing/backing tracks but think its unnecessary to manipulate things for the sake of maybe a slightly better TV experience.
