The wanana demo thing, I've seen many remarks my whole life on how it's weird that James writes melodies first, and then puts in the words that fit with the melody. I don't understand that observation. I've written vocals exactly like that as far as I can remember ever writing my lyrics. I don't get how you would just write random poetry or lyrics and then try to work them into a song. Makes no sense to me. Melody, then words, is the only way it works for me personally. I've tried the other way on occasion, and it just feels forced.

This song works pretty well as an instrumental as is. I always assumed the decision to add lyrics was made way earlier. Unless something contradicts this, it was. The rough mix doesn't have vocals because they hadn't been recorded yet. Many of the other rough mixes on the deluxe releases are instrumentals and sometimes missing solos too, like the two cover songs in the MoP boxset because the vocals and Kirk's solos come last along with any little odds and ends they decide to overdub. Well duh. I was talking more about the structure and feel of the song. Doesn't really feel hollow without vocals like other rough mixes. Also there is another rough mix with vocals that dates to earlier of the same year. |

Nice find. I would watch that absolutely yes, have often thought Torbin is worthy of a doco. I recognise some of that jam footage, I remember that piano keysmash. Lars is has always been so proud of his dad. |

It seems like yesterday. Wow. These last 10 years really flew by. You may laugh at this but Rob's integration in the band, image-wise, was crystalized ever since he ditched the basketball jersey and shorts (Hardwired era).

I gotta be honest. I've grown tired of many of the RtL songs (Fight Fire with Fire, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Creeping Death) and I find Escape more enjoyable these days, lol.

I hope his role is that of a dirty outlaw, bad ass, mean dude, not some pretty boy cop. He felt way too tame in that other movie, almost "Leave it to Beaver" tame and a bit corny.
