Am I Savage?, Confusion, and ManUnkind are some of my fave songs off the HW album. I'd say I liked them rightaway. That doesn't seem to be the case with most fans. What don't you like about them?

I have a thing for the finale to Seek and Destroy, it kicks in at 5:49.

Agreed. Here Comes Revenge is the only one I really don’t like from that album, and sort of Murder One. Am I Savage is criminally underrated, one of the coolest breakdown/solo sections on the whole album.

Here Comes Revenge has a cool riff. But overall kind of forgettable. I think that's the case with most Hardwired's second half. None of it is offensively bad, just sort of bland.

Revenge is like The Thorn Within. It's ok, it's there. The video is one of the cooler ones though.

HW would have been so much tighter without these songs
Manunkind - Such a horrible song Murder One - I kinda like it a little bit it’s so weak Revenge - It semi cool but a complete filler
Had MOP or Ride consisted of 12-14 songs then they would contain a lot of shit as well.
Quality over quantity. Even if I do like certain sections in certain songs, it degrades the overall feel of an album.

I gave Hardwired to Self Destruct a spin a few days ago, and I couldn't even recall the video for Now That We're Dead. It took a few minutes to remember that it was like the album cover, right? I'm hoping that since the new videos have a theatrical release, they will be much cooler and thought out. Confusion and Spit Out the Bone would look awesome up on the big screen.

I’m more worried about the sound, it can go both ways. Rammsteins DVD sounded awesome in the theater, but Through the never were a little flat as I recall it.

I 100% agree that HW could’ve been shorter, but I also think DM *needed* to be shorter. DM is tough to get through in one sitting for me, HW just drags (but is an easier listen). The whole double album thing was dumb, but I get that they probably needed to commit to it before LOS got the cut.

I haven’t played an album from start to finish in years, but I’m thinking that you are probably right. And yes the double album was a horrible idea, there’s literally no double albums out there without loads of fillers. In general I don’t understand why artists release albums with so many tracks, take Eminem who I find amazing, But he puts out like 14-20 songs pr. album, 4-8 is great, then a couple of decent songs, aaand then filler filler filler that no one will ever give 2 shits about. It completely waters down the overall quality for me and even if I’m thinking a certain artist or band is great, in reality I probably only listen to 25 % of their songs.

Am I Savage isn’t bad but isn’t good either. It’s just forgettable filler and will go down in history as songs like Prince Charming or Attitude have. Never acknowledged by and likely never played live by the band. Confusion is probably one grade above that but not by much. That middle section/riff before the solo makes the song but the rest is forgettable. ManUNKind on the other hand is probably the only Metallica song outside of something of St Anger that is actually painful to listen to. The riff, the vocals, the drums, it’s all really grating and is not enjoyable to sit though. It’s irritating. It’s a bottom 5 song by the band for me. I think HW overall is a fairly average album. It’s mostly middle of the road filler, has two of the worst Metallica songs ever in Hardwired and ManUNKind, three great songs in Moth, Dream, Halo and almost a forth in Spit.

Remember Jason’s last “heavy” project? Where he made an EP, gained some momentum and audience, got a band together, released an album, started a tour. Then when his band and crew arrived here in Australia he was a no show and he then went off the grid for like a year without explaination or announcement? So metal.

It's fucking bonkers to me that people just forgot about this. He fell into borderline scammer territory in my head. There's obviously a reason why he wouldn't just revive the "Newsted" name. That being said, that Metal EP was fantastic. The full LP didn't hit as strong, and they took two of the EP songs off the album for worse songs!!

Am I Savage and ManUnkind are great songs. I guess you just have to "get" ManUnkind to like it. As a drummer, it flows and bounces and grooves like a mofo and I love it. Everything about it makes sense to me. Confusion and Murder One are the duds for me, along with Hardwired. I never liked Lords of Summer much either.

I actually quite like Lords of Summer and think it's better than half of the songs on the main album, lol

How does that main time Sig work though from the technical side. 123, 123,123,12345 or something like that? It's very Manic depressive esk, no? If my wife is ever really "in my space", ManUnKind always does the trick to get her to shoo away, it makes her brain snap and glitch LoL and she mumbles something and leaves.

I love ManUNkind too....fun to play, its very catchy to me.
I also really like Confusion...surprised nearly everyone here dislikes it. Another fun one to play, has a classic Hetfield riff throughout.
