Oh my fucking god, I haven't listened to this original mix for like 4-5 years and I just realized how bad the new mix is. Greg just sampled Hardwired snare and put it in every mix. You can hear how big the sound is but never too punchy.

The pros of the new mix are that it's much clearer and fake cheering is volumed down. That's it.

Honestly, if you put on either version, I'd never notice, unless someone pointed out or I was really listening and paying attention. I guess they're pulling a 1984 with the older releases.
When will they add more distortion to Cunning Stunts, that's what I really want.

There might be a sample buried in there but that snare just sounds extremely cleaned up from the 1989 mix. Lars's drums had that kind of punch to them live since the 80s.

That Was Just Your Life is so good. It's 7 minutes long but it doesn't drag at any point. It's catchy as heck. And when James switches up the vocal melody for the final verse... Simply amazing. The fact that the band hasn't played it in over 12 years is a crime.

I love it on the album though, with better production I would have put it up there with the all time great opener tracks. |
