This didn't detract from the experience but goddamn can Metallica fans suck at a festival. The majority of people wearing Metallica shirts just loudly complained about every band that wasn't Metallica, and tried to fight their way to the front of everything instead of just having a relaxed time like the majority of everyone else the rest of the weekend. I kinda get why people don't like them on festivals versus their own dedicated shows (this goes for a lot of huge name artists).

I remember at a BDO festival in 2003, some young tough guy having a go because I was cheering on an Aussie band on the bill. He was waiting for Metallica and had to tell me they were the only band worth being here for.
"Long day mate?". He was probably in nappies when I was buying Master of Puppets, but he knows better.

Yeah the MO of the weekend until about 4pm on Sunday was "enjoy all the music even if you don't know it". After then, the vibe around the stage Metallica was playing on was "this isn't metal, this is bad music". I completely get why everyone is generally not happy when Metallica (people said the same thing happened with Tool a few years ago too) gets booked for one of these festivals.
You take a crowd of 30,000 that would see Metallica at the local stadium for their own show and give them all the opportunity for essentially floor tickets for a cheaper price, there's going to be a wave of assholes who all think they deserve to be within 50 feet of the stage. Just sucks when they start trying to get their spot for Metallica before half of the bands of the day perform, and just complain about everyone else to boot.

Do Metallica really need to tour again before a new album?

For $19.99 James will show you how to hold a pick, and Kirk will teach you how to play a blues scale out of time.

Despite the lack of variety, the sets have been consistently awesome this tour. If they start doing the Iron Maiden method of playing the same rarities consistently every tour, Iād take that.

I looked through some of the 2022 setlists and I liked them. It's not organized like summer festival setlists. Order is always different. Nice.

Crew member? They say in the statement a member of the Metallica family, if it was James or something I think they'd say so, plus they haven't cancelled the shows for the next week or so so maybe they need to find a replacement and it was too short notice for this show?
Sucks big time, I'd be biting my nails down to the bone right now if I had tickets for Friday.
