I just realized how much Lars's drum style has changed so much since the mid-2000s. I feel like that's when everyone considers he got sloppy and that it's been sort of like that since, but I just compared the 2021 performance of End of the Line to one from 2009 and his playing style is so different now. I actually feel like he's much tighter and more focused nowadays, but also a little more robotic and slower. There's some super bouncy fills he used to do that he never does anymore in favor of just a snare/china sorta thing. He also plays a lot of grooves more straightforward and less bouncy and swung than he used to. I don't know if it's just the new way they mix videos playing with my head since the drums are so sampled, but I definitely noticed a change. It's like a new iteration of his drumming eras.

True. And I don’t like it. The tasty playing is long gone.
The sampled drum sound doesn’t help him either.
Yes you can finally hear what he actually plays, but
the drum sound is 100 % the same no matter what show
you listen to now a days :/ Turn the damn snare down

I mean don't expect anything crazy from this point, guys are in their nearly 60s, they know that they are playing their thrash side for the last in their lives. Maybe for the retirement tour, they will play something special.

If we get a new album one day, it'll be interesting to see the path forward as far as song writing goes. They'll have to play these new songs live, so are we going to get some mid tempo Now that we're dead type of stuff and nothing too fast except the open and closers. Same formula as HWTSD? I'd love a final album to just fuckin destroy speed limits even if only possible in the studio.

I’d love them to go slow and greasy, just HEAVY.
Some Down/COC type of stuff.
I want more slow fat half time beats from them, they haven’t
done enough if those. Dat riff from Savage is amazing.
I don’t need generic HW (the song) stuff ever again.
