some good stories arise from that race but otherwise it was fucking diabolical. the only interesting moment on track was missed because that idiot director (monaco is always bad) cut to watching lance stroll bounce over a chicane in slow motion.
not being passed at monaco is not an achievement as such but good drives from norris, gasly, giovanazzi. ocon and perez were great, vettel had his most impressive race in almost 2 years.
the fuck happened to alonso, tsunoda was awol but i think this was his first visit to monaco. kimi and the williams' were present, haas rocked the 2010 hrt/marussia slot.
valtteri bottas and charles leclerc have curses put on them. unsure who i hurt more for.
hamilton pulled a blinder. sacrifice monaco, whatever, give verstappen the lead in the championship knowing full well that you'll catch him and along the line destroy his self-worth. lewis loves coming from behind/having to overcome something (the tyres! the tyres!). he's winning title #8 and race #100 easy. no beef towards max verstappen, i don't think he's on hamilton's level over a year (and a brutal title fight).

i went into convulsions when conor daly took the lead. gutting that he also had consequences from rahal's crash as it was such a massive day for him.

on that note, alex palou is another driver that has been a total blank spot on the F1/european team horizon. left for japan in 2019 and now has a mega career in america.

Hélioooooo, que lenda, foda-se :D How in the blue fuck did he never win the title? honest to God one of the great mysteries of motorsport. he's finished 2nd like six times or something. an absolute legend either way, at this race track and of open wheel racing all round.
literally the entire field is out here celebrating with him!!

Should have brought the computer with me, but that would have been rude to my hosts. Baaaaaaah i book this day off every year! i'm very sorry that you missed it though. the last 25 laps or so were electric. so good though and you still go to experience a lot of it!
definitely felt the very highest highs and lowest lows of this sport today.

No Singapore now we just need to drop abu dhabi... monaco has already passed but losing singapore and abu dhabi would do just nicely.

cracking article mate, thank you for sharing.
takuma sato is frighteningly good at indy and rahal letterman are a hell of a team. i really thought graham was winning at the halfway point - if it wasn't daly, ferrucci had a stunning recovery drive to 6th, as did big taku.
having sat on the race for a few days, it's really stunning to me how good it was - and how clean the race was! only two cautions and neither really for crashes - one spin on pitlane and poor stefan wilson didn't get away with it like the others and graham's wheel falling off. the cream - and the talent really rose to the top (dixon and rossi being stuck a lap down aside). i thought that scotty mclaughlin was fantastic on his debut. he's a complete natural at this discipline and in the series.
it won't go down as such - i saw lots of people complaining that the passes for the lead were "meaningless" - but castroneves vs palou for the win over the last 20 or so laps was some of the finest racing i've ever see at the track. it was respectful, you can't take the piss at 230mph in open wheel cars, but helio really had to work for the win and alex really had to work to repass. credit to patricio o'ward there too, i reckon he's the best mclaren driver going atm.
