albon potentially saving his career by overtaking the guy widely topped to be replacing him is such a storyline
based on today and today alone i would take them both and sack max :p

poor sharl, but he fucked it,but i am so happy for vettel. strong drive today.
perez was unbelievable today. hamilton was unbelievable. the top 5 today were inarguably the top 5 drivers, pure skill from hamilton, perez, seb, sharl (barring one corner) and sainz jr.

saw an interview somewhere with, now motogp champion!!!, joan mir in which he was asked if he feels pressure to win a race and win the championship (this was before the past 10 days) and he responded more or less "no, people who are poor and unemployed and people who are sick and vulnerable feel immense pressure every day; i ride a bike for a living"
comrade mir ✊✊✊

He better not win Portimão, we need a proper Rosberg/Kenseth championship :p

absolutely. my kind of championship right there. it's maybe a bit sentimental of me but i would quite like dovi to win on sunday seeing as he's being left on the outside next season. i'd take something mental like tito rabat or one of the aprilias winning however :p

just looking at the standings and pol espargaro has the second highest amount of podium of appearences this year with 5. mir has 7 and rins and morbidelli have 4 but pol has had a quietly great year. attention was on binder and oliveira because they won races - which i fair enough - but pol has had a great year. it'd be nice if he got a win on the KTM in his final race there, especially as he's been part of that project since their first season (not since the beginning but he was racing for yamaha in fairness). it really feels like there's been a sea change in the series. since motogp fell off of terrestrial television here, my grandfather used to watch every race, has only caught bits and pieces and when i was talking to him the other day, he was saying that the only recognisable names for him were the espargaros, dovi, millar, crutchlow and obviously rossi; when he reads the newspaper reports all of these new riders don't mean much to him. obviously it is sad that a former fan is now cut off from the nowadays but i suppose it is a sign that the times have moved on. of the names from the 2006-2017 era (seems like a good year as that's when the new regs firmed up and KTM, aprilia and suzuki were all in), it's really just those names i mentioned that are still about, plus marquez. pedrosa is gone, stoner is gone, simoncelli and hayden passed away, edwards gone, spies gone, lorenzo on hiatus, iannone banned, no barbera or melandri or bautista or bradl (regularly)...so there we go. a new age!

i feel like if anyone has benefitted from the rona it's the portimão circuit. i can't think of a compelling case for F1 and motogp not to go back fairly regularly after the two races we saw there. the F1 race was brilliant and the motogp race, though oliveira took a grand chelem and was 4 seconds ahead of millar who along with frankie was about another 9 ahead of esparagó, had lots of great, tense racing, a total free for all in the pack, allowed for multiples lines to be taken, was consistent re temperatures throughout the race, it's a real rider/driver's circuit.
i thought that oliveira was phenomenal this weekend. maybe the best weekend of any rider this season. from more or less the get go he looked like he was going to win, just fearsome. i hope the 2021 yamaha and ducatis are better than the 2020 models because i really hope we see more morbidelli vs millar next season, that'd be grand if it was the championship next year... (though tbh the 2019 yamaha might work for frankie).
the race for 4th was incredible and a good encapsulation of the season itself: the only teams. not involved were tech3 (far in front or off the back) and the yamaha factory team (just horrific this weekend until about 6 laps from the end and they got involved for the top. 10 scraps).both espargaró brothers, crutchlow, dovi, nakagami, bradl, marquez, quartararo (just), rins, the yamaha at the end had an all out war for 25 laps. a highlight was dovi at least once taking 3 bikes on the home straight and into turn 1 and stefan bradl up in 5th riding as smooth and serene as you like on what is essentially a paved motocross course on a bike that wouldn't be out of place in a bull ring in dallas and calgary, so hopefully honda have figured out the bike at last!!
jack miller is such a star. rode the thing like he was out in a field, letting the back step out and drifting round the final bend every lap, got himself in the right mind to pull off the last lap pass this time. moving to the ducati factory team has been a poisoned chalice in recent years but one can hope that they treat miller right. he has so much potential. northern QLD redneck guy, loads of charisma, he's a real one. fast as hell.

Mobdro. I didn't remember how cool it was to see those shots of bikes emerging from over the hill, you almost expect them to jump rally style. :p fair m8. i use sportsurge which is a bit of a directory (i think it's basically r/motorsportstreams). one called "cycling entertainment" and "cricworld" are generally what i use for watching racing/hockey/nfl. if it comes to it, for F1, i use old faithful hesgoal and mute the dutch commentary and overlay the bbc radio commentary :p
yeah mate, it was fucking sick. the superbikes there the other week were mega but seeing these full on prototypes come over the hill was something else. the ducatis especially, being so powerful, looked like they were about to take off! would love for dorna to take one of the non-catalunya spanish races off the calendar and go back there next year (and re-include estoril ) because it's really one of the best. hoping liberty take note too.
