Damage Inc is very similar to Hardwired. There is like what, 3 riffs in Damage Inc. All pretty simple, nothing too complicated.
I appreciate Hardwired, its a great in your face song that doesn't overstay its welcome at all. If it was like 8 minutes though, yeah screw that. But for 3 minutes of kicks to the balls, it rules.

What do you think about paying $2500 for the HW experience? Even if you meet James that's a ridiculous price.

And now knowing that this will probably stick around, no better time to start saving. If they come back in say 2 years, that's just $3.50 a day to put aside. Not so bad if you look at it like that. Or you could just put it on a credit card and take 20 years to pay it off.

Based on the US pricing, it'd be like $5000 AUD. Fuck that.
I have no interest in shelling out that sort of money to hang out with people who are only there because they are getting paid to be there. I'd rather keep trying my luck at the free meet and greets.
And the song Hardwired is shit. Not because it's simple. A lot of songs on Black and Load are simple, but they are good songs. Hardwired is at best boring/generic sounding, and annoying to listen to at worst. The snare/e-string chugging intro is annoying, one of their worst song intros, and easily the worst album intro. The middle section also gets me nerves because of that stupid riff. The lyrics sound like they were written by a 15 year old. The song has no melody, no riff based hooks, and none of that signature Metallica sound. The thing I do like about the song Hardwired though is the vocal delivery - which sounds like something straight off Puppets.

Yeah, I'd never justify spending that with my kids and stuff in the picture, but if I won the lotto or something, why the hell not.
I would love to hear James input on the matter. Why do people, who can be just as crazy, but with money, get to meet him? How did that meeting go down? No disrespect, but its a bit whoreish.
20 people at $2500 a pop!!!! That's $50,000 just to pose in a group photo and sign your name max 40 times. I know record sales are down, but Jesus! $50,000 for 20 minutes of "work". That's just crazy.

The whole "I don't take pictures with fans, I'd rather get to know them because I am just a normal person..." thing James has been going on and on about in interviews recently really loses a lot of water with me when you blow off the people who don't pay to meet you in favor for those who do. It's even worse that he gets up on stage afterwards and spouts off the Metallica family shit all night. I love James, but if you're going to have certain principles you shouldn't push them aside because money is involved. The whole thing has rubbed me the wrong way, but if people are going to pay that much to meet you I guess it's better not to leave money on the table... As if they weren't making enough from the ticket prices alone.

That's why I'm really interested to know how that meeting went down. I can just see the guys with their management sitting around a table, all pressuring James to agree to this. I know they spoke of talking about what other bands are doing and what is normal now a days. I'm sure James was being über stubborn and stood his ground for as long as he could. I don't see him just saying fuck all the fans but wait, now there's $50,000 in it for Metallica, sign me up.

It's all about milking the consumer for all they have. It's sad to see.

I don't agree at all. They used to have 'complicated' songs (and justice for all, ...). Hardwired is just not good enough. They also "used to have" pretty simple and straightforward songs, like Motorbreath or Trapped Under Ice. Yes but they were good

I love both DM and HW, I can't say which is better but the production makes the replay value of HW a lot stronger I haven't listened to DM in quite awhile. from memory, overall I think the songs are better. but as you said HW has better production and 6 songs which I consider to be right up there with Metallica's best. 4 of those songs are on disc 1. Dead, Moth, Dream & Halo and from disc 2. Confusion & Spit. the thing with HW is, there are a few songs that aren't strong, they are ok but not songs that I look forward to hearing next. those songs would be Hardwired, ManUnkind, Savage & Murder One.

I think the faster songs are better on HW (HW, Spit, Moth), there's a few iffy slower ones imo.

Welp, been many months since the release of HTSD. Still diggin' it, though not as much as when it initially came out obviously.
Actually digging Hardwired more than I was before. Sometimes you just want a nice, stiff kick to the face.

Yeah, good video! A shame though that there were no bits about the harmony section of the song. : (
