I hope so. It has the right atmosphere for some dark red lights during the quite bits, some cool animation from the video to through on screen here and there. Would be awesome at a small venue, like for a release party or something... And the chorus has an overall "lets fuck someone up in the pit" kind of vibe. Could be a winner.

I realised the other day that there's a vocal melody that's almost identical to 'love is a 4 letter word' from Day........but I forget what song it is now. Possibly Halo or Dead. Has anyone noticed this or mentioned it?

Actually it's the Halo chorus:
- Halo on fire, the midnight knows it well
- Love is a 4 letter word and never spoken here

That's more cadence than it is melody.

I've stopped listening to it, going through a Megadeth phase atm.

I actually am getting into the new Lords of Summer. Didn't like it at first. Sounds weird to hear songs changed. I went ahead and put it in the album between Confusion and Revenge.

Well, it just went platinum. You think they count all the CDs that came with ticket purchases?

Well, it just went platinum. You think they count all the CDs that came with ticket purchases? Probably, since CD sales numbers often go by 'shipped', as they print/ship in portion by demand and count those as sales, as they will all likely eventually sell any way. It's an easier way to track CDs being moved.

Well, I finally listened to the album beginning to end, undisturbed, with headphones. Took me 6 months. So, with that said, the album definitely passes my journey test.
Very different hearing the whole thing, in the song order.
Am I Savage clicked a bit more with me. Murder 1 is still bloated filler. Dream No More sounded much better. NTWD is garbage, like Bad Seed quality garbage, sounds like James is guest singing on a Weezer track.
Can't recall the song, but kirk starts playing the solo to Devil's Dance before murdering a cat, pretty much the whole album as far as Kirk goes.
I swear there are parts of leads that are straight up leads from other past songs. U3, Devils Dance, S&R to name a few.
And there are some big useless chunks cluttering up some great songs. The worst offender shows up in 2 songs for fucks sake. That shitty bridge verse in Moth before the solo which is then slowed down and wastes a minute somewhere near the 3 quarter mark of Confusion.
Oh well, hopefully the next album is better. This one is OK at best, has some fantastic moments, but could have used a lot of editing. Even the Godlyness of SOTB could have done without the bass solo/twangy send off bit.

I kind of wish SOTB didn't have the redundant heavy section at the end; it feels a bit bloated. It's also ironic because it's still one of the best songs on the album, but also has one of the few musical sections that I feel is unnecessary, a la every song on DM.

It also irks the shit out of me that the album is on two discs. The notion that quality is better when splitting the audio between two CDs is completely wrong; CDs are designed to perfectly fit up to 80 minutes of audio on them. I've burned CDs with like 85 minutes of audio on them with compromised sound quality, but below 80 is fine. Not to mention Load is longer than HTSD.

James said something about it being analogous to turning a record over.

I had to break out MP3Tag and fix the info so it played in the right order. I went ahead and made it the vinyl order instead of the cd. Flows better to me.

What's the vinyl order? Is it the official order? It was the official order when the tracklisting was first announced, and then they were like "Actually jk we want it in a slightly different order, but we've already started manufacturing vinyl records so they're just going to have the old order." So the CD order is the official order but they're both acceptable.
