The "And he blinds your soul" part to me sounds like it could fit right in with the heavy climax of "Temptation ah ha!" Part.

There are a few cuts that are "interesting", like The tracks used in the SKOM bonus features when Rob is snow boarding. Had they reworked that stuff, who knows. The album that could have been.

Just want to come here and say that the bass part is SOTB always gets my adrenaline going for some reason. So damn groovy. Whenever I hear this song I can't actually believe they came up with that stuff in 2016. Dream hardly sounds anything like Sad But True. If anything it sounds kinda like Memory Remains, but way better. But it does have that 5 second silent stop like Sad. Sad has a 5 second silent stop ? Oh in the beginning, I totally forgot  Never really listen to it anymore |

I highly doubt there are any "hidden gems" on the St. Anger outtakes. Outside of curiosity, can't imagine ever listening to them.

When I first heard the full album I called Halo On Fire and Spit Out the Bone my favorites. Those two are still up there. However, at the time I was mainly ignoring the songs we had heard prior to the release and focusing on the new ones. After some distance, I think Moth might be the single best track on the album. There's not a single thing I would change about that song. It has everything I would ever want from Metallica, and all four members perform well.
I think the song I've been listening to the most since release is Now That We're Dead. I love how groovy it is. It sounds straight out of The Black Album.

Agreed, Moth is a fantastic track and I often feel like it's the best and most coherent track they've done since TBA. I only have one complaint and it's not even the solo (I love it) or Lars's drumwork (love it too). It's the uninspiring breakdown riff, it's sounds so dull and lifeless, it's just there to fill up space. Fortunately it quickly leads into a much better riff. |
