I'm so sad they forgot how to play basically every DM song. To be fair, they haven't played most of these songs in literally 9-10 years. Then between 2011-2015, they went through a nostalgia phase. Plus they're old, I mean Lars just made the Jethro Tull Grammy joke for the 10,3967th time. It happens. What you should be surprised at is that they remembered it to the point that they want to play it again. Shows that the riffs aren't as forgettable.

Cyanide, Broken Beat and Scarred and The Day That Never Comes have all been played within the last 5 years. Day has even gotten a play or two on this tour.

On the other hand they're playing the shit out of HTSD. 7 new songs is now a standard with Spit being dropped in the encore between the hits.
Btw. have you ever seen a better crowd than this on the metallica show? Seriously that is amazing.

Oh man, Spit being in the encore reminds me of the good old days when they used to have Damage Inc. and Fight Fire With Fire as their encores. I'm real happy they're doing that now, it deserves to get played at every gig.

All the best crowds are in countries that speak a Romance language. Across the board.

Someone on the other forum who was aware of the guitar before it debuted is saying that the wood its made from came from James and Lars' old garage. I'd like to think that the story is a real one

My parents trendy whipped and nailed table must've come from someone's garage. I'm sure James and Lars still have nailed wood saved from their old garage from who the fuck knows when. Probably not.

A lot of their tour promo posters are so much cooler than most of their album covers.

Its in black and white. You could download a high quality jpeg and get it printed in no time on a shirt at your local mall kiosk. I've done some cool shirts for my kids that way. If its in color they make a horrible iron on patch of sorts, but the black and white ones, or duo tones they can do really well for around $30

Fuck that shit. All of those skull things look fucking horrible and people who like them should be ashamed. Fucking horrible. I would never in a million years buy a shirt with a picture like that.
Seriously, skull illustrations are so 90s and/or middle school. What kind of adult person would like shit like that?

For once I completely agree. As individual illustrations they are cool and detailed, as posters or shirts for a band or a bands gig, it’s super tacky and cheesy like something ManOWar would use as an album cover.

Nope, you're both wrong, and this shit is better than most of Metallica's album covers which have been complete dogshit for most of my life. Not saying this specific art should have been on a cover, it's just way fucking better than most of their album covers. And no I would not buy the shirt, I don't give a fuck about band merch anymore. Point is, the boy in me says 'that's cool', in comparison.

I just really like how they get artists to make art that represents each place they play. That’s pretty cool. James did an interview with an artist about this whole idea a little while ago.
Also, I really like the whole undead priest thing if you guys haven’t noticed, which I think is what the artist was going for due to the cross and the location being Italy. So lick my balls. YOU GUYS ARE SO MEAN AND I HATE YOUR OPINIONS ABOUT SKULLS!
Jk I love you all.
(I also love Jack Daniels).
...and Kimbo.

Btw I'm seeing the boys in a couple of weeks and I think this is my first time not feeling excited, like at all. The only song on the set which I haven't seen live before is Spit, and even though I love it, I don't really care. I feel kinda sad and bummed about it, I miss that time when going to a Metallica gig felt like the highlight of your life.

With all of these bands retiring lately I'm just trying to take it all in and just be happy they are still around. I don't know how many times I have left to see them, so I might as well enjoy it. I don't listen to them much anymore, but they will always be my favorite band, and when they do decide to hang it up I will be quite sad. Just try and enjoy it man. Who knows, you might get a surprise. It is depressing that a few of us feel this way now, but honestly I think it just comes down to the fact that we have all been listening to this band for so long, and with the constant livemet stuff over the years it starts to make everything so predictable. I love livemet of course, but it certainly doesn't help when we all know exactly what James is going to say, exactly what transition is coming and what song that transition leads too, etc. It is certainly a blessing and a curse that they make things so available. I absolutely love it and think it's a great idea to keep people excited about what the band is doing. But when you have been exposed to it for over a decade it certainly waters down the experience. That might be just how I see it anyway.

I couldn't agree more with everything you said.
To be honest, thinking back to the gigs I've attended the last few years, when thinking about amazing concerts it's never because of the actual concert. It more comes down to hanging out with your mates, having a few beers, meeting new people and listening to their Metallica stories. That is great stuff, they could have played Atlas 18 times in a row and the experience would have been equally good.
It maybe have something to do with the sheer number of times I've seen the band too, I've seen it all. A number of times too. Oh well, I'm sure it will be pretty cool when I'm actually there.

I'm seeing them in 3 months. Not that excited yet. Not as excited as I "should" be at least. The things I'm most excited about is seeing them indoors for the first time (this will be my third time seeing them) and getting to hear the Hardwired...to self-destruct songs live. Those things are mostly exciting just in theory right now though...I don't really Feel the excitement so far.

I absolutely love it and think it's a great idea to keep people excited about what the band is doing. But when you have been exposed to it for over a decade it certainly waters down the experience. That might be just how I see it anyway. I did that with seeing Black Sabbath on their final tour and I'm contemplating doing the same with Slayer. Despite my issues with both bands, I'm just glad I saw the band that laid the framework for almost all the bands I listen to. I tell you what, when they broke into Black Sabbath and then Into the Void. Like, even with 3/4 of the band members, that was a out of body experience I didn't expect them to play 90% of my favorite album of theirs Master of Reality. After that show, I realized and it slowly sunk in that was probably the best concert I've ever been to and no other concert could top that. I saw Rush 4 years before they retired and that was fucking amazing too. Slayer is a different beast. Not my desired lineup, but it's Fuckin' Slayer. Like Steel said, enjoy it while you can. They're human like us (hard to believe sometimes lol) and shit can happen. I have that same mentality with Metallica. We can nitpick everything, but they're 30+ years into their career, 50+ years old, they will at some point retire a lot of their thrashier songs and it'll go from there. It's just gonna happen. Enjoy it, cause they might call it too and I think it'll be James who throws the towel in. I can see him going down Tom's route. I hate being born in the early 90s, I get to see half of these bands that I grew up in their twilight years and not many new bands really interest me. One more thing to note that we take for granted cause we are used to it: They don't have to play deep cuts from Kill 'Em All or whatever album every so often. They could be one of these bands who play their hits and that's it. The fact they are willing to play almost all of their material is fucking awesome. I know they don't do it that often this tour, but they did play the Shortest Straw and they're hinting Until It Sleeps. /rant
