IDK, all the guys in Met seem to be into this idea of going on as long as possible. They would do it forever if they could. Tom Araya really didn't like being in Slayer for years I think. Just doing his job. Once he could afford to quit, he did. Metallica can take breaks and don't have to force themselves to do a rigorous schedule, and get paid awesomely.
I hope life extension makes breakthroughs in the very near future.

It’ll be Kirk that calls it first I reckon. Het and Lars love performing too much, and Rob couldn’t live without playing music.
I’ll still see them when/if they bring this tour down here, because it’s fucking Metallica after all, but it seems from the videos that they aren’t firing on all cylinders the way they were even 3-4 years ago. It’s a shame but it was always going to happen at some point... and I’m not entirely ruling out another 2006-07/2012-13 style resurgence/reenergised Metallica appearing at some point.

Well apparently I'm not seeing them before the end of March, and I thought it was in a couple of weeks I also seem to have two tickets too many, I wonder who I bought those for.

Some of that artwork that flashes on those cubes are horrendous.

One of the most photographed bands on the planet, with a career spanning over 35 years, and instead of showing some of the 1000’s of cool photos that must exist or some from the era of the song they are performing, or even album art of the song they are performing, they show horrible fan art everywhere.
Why? Why are they like this?

I have to say, the people taking video of the metontour stuff really do a good job. It's getting to the point where the videos almost look like a dvd release.
I really liked that performance, Breadfan is such a fun live song.
The artwork does suck major cock though, but I'm sure it makes the fans that created it very happy.

I wacthed that performance yesterday and thought it was great, didn't notice what was on the cubes really I think the band (besides Kirk, lol) is pretty solid these days. James isn't yodeling as much, Lars isn't fucking up as much, Rob is a professional and improving his vocals (slowly). Maybe that's why we are all so bored with them. There isn't much to bitch about. Except Kirk phoning it in. A few years ago I would just wait for the inevitable fuck up, and it usually came. These days not so much. Though they do edit the livemet audio pretty heavily.

When I saw them in Antwerp I remember when James was playing close to me he looked at one of those cubes when it was showing pretty terrible fan art of him, he made a funny, ugly face mimicing asymetry of the drawing then he looked at us and laughed it off. Anyway I'm pretty sure that whatever is on that cubes is someone elses idea, they just don't care.

Damn, this and the last MetOnTour video has the cinematography on par with the Cunning Stunts concert. The up'ed their game in the video filming department. Orion is always badass live, or any of their instrumentals for that matter. Wish they played Live is to Die a bit more often. Speaking of which, bet they're not gonna do a 30th anniversary for that this year or next year hahaha, wonder why.

Yeah, I was hoping they'd do a Justice play through but never really expected that they would. At the most, maybe, they'll just play a couple more AJFA songs in the set than they normally do. They usually play maybe 2. Maybe they'll do 4. Or, maybe bring back the Justice medley at least, and maybe change it up a bit.
I'm making a prediction that they might, 50/50, even though they could have and should have done this in '11, in 2021 they'll do a TBA tour. Not a huge one, just a short tour.

Also, trying to sell discs, it's a shitshow. It's trickling down to nothingness. Vast majority of bands haven't been putting out DVDs/BDs over the past 5 years +. That market is dried up.

Yeah I agree. It's just. It's hard to pinpoint, they are playing pretty solid these days so that's not the issue. This will be my, I don't know, between the 40th and 50th show, I've probably just seen them too much. The show in Denmark is at a venue they haven't played before though, so that's pretty cool.

Shakira has currently been bumped from the second seat by Trish Stratus anyway. So have fun flying into a quasar because you don't know how to fly the goddamn spaceship.

The second Bologna show is one of the most modern setlists I've seen in a while. 7 (!) Hardwired songs, 1 DM, 1 Reload and even 1 '90s Garage. Only 1 song each from the first four albums.

In the near future Lars won't be able to play those faster songs anymore, it almost hurts me watching him play through a song like Blackened.
