I liked the sarcastic robot. Yeah, K-2 was funny. Actually, it's about the only new character whose name I can remember... Except Mads Mikkelsen, who was Galen, I think. I remember it because it means "crazy" in Swedish. The daughter was Jin, maybe?

There(s a new Star Wars? I've just seen The Force Awakens. Not sure if kidding, but yeah, there is. It's called Rogue One, and it's a stand-alone movie set in the time between Ep III and Ep IV. It tells the story of how the Rebel Alliance first got hold of the Death Star plans which were a major plot point in Ep IV. There will be a new Star Wars movie every year now. First, it was Ep VII, now Rogue One, next year Ep VIII, after that it's a stand-alone "young Han Solo" movie, and after that Ep IX.

I was joking actually but found your explanation interesting nonetheless.

Just saw Rogue One for the first time. I liked it. It was really interesting to see the rebels in Vaguely-middle-eastern City being portrayed like, well, terrorists, really. Guerrilla warfare, ambushes, roadside bombs, you name it. Also, the choices they made were less about heroism and more about survival, which was a nice change of pace. All in all, it was nice to see a Star Wars movie actually depict proper warfare. The CGI faces on Tarkin and Leia were almost on the other side of the uncanny valley, but not quite. Leia felt more natural and "real", but she had really limited screen time. It's pretty unreal how good the facial CGI is now. One thing I feel was a distraction was the amount of characters they crammed into one movie. It was a bit overwhelming at times, although I think I'd be more okay with it on a second viewing. The end battle was up there with the best scenes in Star Wars history, IMO. And Vader being Vader in the end was kickass. All in all, a really good addition to the saga. A solid 4/5. Did you do a little whimper when Leia appeared? Or was that just me? Saw on Wednesday at cinema. I let out a whimper when seeing Leia and a squeal of delight at Vader with saber. Really enjoyed it!

All in all, it was nice to see a Star Wars movie actually depict proper warfare. That whole scene was a genuinely good bit of worldbuilding. People were complaining about yet another desert planet, but the premise is much more interesting than that: the fallen remnant of some sort of, dare I say, holy ground, where Jedi used to harvest Force-sensitive crystals for their lightsabers (that now power the Death Star)? That's some seriously cool stuff. Worldbuilding is about more than just the locations themselves. We saw a sort of culture built around the spirituality of the Force, instead of just the magic of it or the Jedi doctrines from it. And of course, as you said, we finally got to see what a city under full-on Imperial occupation looks like.

Finally got to see Rogue One, I thought it was great. I liked The Force Awakens but I prefer Rogue One. I was also surprised by how much I liked the main character, I was sure I was going to hate her after that horrible "I rebel" line from the trailers (which thankfully got cut). She's much better than Daisy Ridley imo. That ending was fantastic too.

I still haven't re-watched Force Awakens after seeing it in the cinema. I definitely won't watch Rogue One again.

I also just saw Rogue One last week and really liked it. The Force Awakens is excellent too. I like all of them very much..except for The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith..those three I can do without.

Finally watched Rogue One.
There may have been a tear shed at the last 10 seconds of the movie.

The Yoda origins story might be good, the Han Solo one is guaranteed to be bullshit though.

That pic has already been debunked as a hoax in 2015. Besides, it has nothing to do with the link you provided. Nicely done.

Here's a complete list of all the changes Lucas made to the original trilogy over the years, if you're interested, I just happened to be reading it. www.empireonline.com/movies/features/star-wars-changes/This is the first time I have seen the changes to that scene where Ben does that weird scream as he approachers the Sand People, after they knocked Luke's arse out. What the fuck was he thinking??

If so how did they explain him turning into a fucking slug in the later movies?

They were going to insert a stop motion "creature" in post production, but they ran out of funds or time or both.

First time it was used was in the special edition of it. Edit: The version of the scene with the inserted creature that is. The original scene with the random dude wasn't part of any released version of the film.
