They might not know exactly what year the record will be out, and that's fine, but they damn sure know whether it will be another 2-3-4 years. They've been sifting through riffs for what seems like 5 years now. Instead of vague answers just give straight up answers about their progress. "yeah we have about 6 demos ready know" "We are entering the studio with 18 songs and we'll cook it down and see what will make the record" "We have recorded about 4 songs now so things are moving on"Anything but usual Lars/Kirk shitty stuff which they only say to make the reporter shut up. Like Alan said, even though probably not possible, I'd rather have them say nothing at all than all this crap they've been putting out for years. They have all given incoherent answers about the progress throughout the years, Hetfield will say something, people will get mildly excited and then Kirk will go on the week after and say something completely different. It's just a shitty way of doing it. I normally don't really care about stuff like that, but it has gotten really ridiculous. I'm not targeting you specifically but I really don't know why people are getting so bent out of shape about this. The album will come out when it's done, when they get asked about it they don't feel in a place/want to discuss it in depth so they give a vaguely positive answer. It's been that way for years. Because it's been 8 freaking years since the last album... 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more excuses, no more projects, no more this and that, just release the fucker so I can get my Metallica fix. I'm starting to loose more and more interest in my one and only favorite band ever, and that saddens me.

I still say what I've said all along: I'll be surprised if the album comes out in 2016. Every passing day, it seems less likely. But I will gladly be proven wrong. I just fear that I'm right. And the constant non-answers and elusive commenting does absolutely nothing to convince me otherwise. It will no doubt come out this year, of that I'm pretty damn sure. They can't troll us that much

My Metallica interest started declining a few years ago. They're still my favorite band, but it really does seem like they've lost their fire.
There's nothing wrong with that, they can do whatever they want. But it's a shame, because they wasted the momentum DM gave them. This album should've been out in 2012 at the latest, and we should be waiting for album 11 now.

I really would like to love Metallica with burning passion again, I really would. But they really haven't done themselves any favors lately...

I think a lot of us also need to realize most of us have changed a lot too. When we say things like we wish we had the same passion for Metallica, we share in part of that. Honestly, I'm so vastly different when I was a mega fan, that there just isn't time in my life to be like that again, and I don't want there to be either. Favorite band, absolutely, fan boy extreme, I will always love what they release, but my days of looking up rare interviews and trivia and watching documentaries on a loop are just over. As are my days of waiting with baited breath on an album. I'll just be happy when it's here.

jaysee, you conveniently didn't put the beginning of that one sentence in bold and red. I mean the Unless something drastic happens part.
Also, laughed out loud at this:
At least he admits it.

That about sums it up for me too, Logi-Bear. jaysee, you conveniently didn't put the beginning of that one sentence in bold and red. I mean the Unless something drastic happens part. Also, laughed out loud at this: At least he admits it. Wasn't deliberate. To me, it was the same qualifier he's been using for years "it'll be out on xxxx but it might not" in other words. My point with the red highlights is that those two statements are the most clear and DIRECT Lars has been with regards to any sort of release date.

The fact that those statements are the most clear and direct Lars has been, doesn't actually make them clear or direct.

I, for one, appreciate good trolling.
Keep it up, Metallica ;)

Lars might be covering up for the lack of progress, he's very clever.

If Metallica would've been as active from the start as they're now...
1983 - Kill 'Em All 1991 - Ride The Lightning 1999 - Master Of Puppets 2007 - ...And Justice For All 2015 - Black
and sometime in the future... 2023 - Load 2031 - Reload 2039 - Garage, Inc. 2047 - S&M 2055 - St. Anger 2063 - Death Magnetic
By DM they would be around 100 years old...

Key word is Kirk.
Also if they have no unfinished songs then the album is finished.

Kirk doesn't tell lies, he is a Buddhist. The press misquote him i think...
