I'm not too fond of HW the track, but I just listened to the premiere version from the deluxe cd. Very potent, it caught me by surprise how much I actually liked it

What premiere version? What deluxe CD? 1. Live premiere 2. Hardwired... To self-destruct yea just saw it at the bottom of the cd there, never noticed it before, i don't listen to live cds. The intro sounded good, live drums always do, but then... nah, still don't like it.

“‘Spit Out the Bone’ is the Mount Everest of the new album — the highest peak and the hardest ascent,” Hammett says of the mammoth Hetfield/Ulrich-penned track. “On the rest of the record, I improvised my solos — not that one. The instrumentation on that song is so tight that I wanted to solo with equal precision.”
I seriously felt this was the case before he said this. It shows. He needs to stop trying to be an improv guy. He's not great at it.

It really shows because it's like 10 times better than the rest.

Kirk should get his guitar, put it in Lars' lap, and just stare at him.

Steve Vai said that anyone that thinks they can improv a solo will just end up playing the same riffs they play when practicing, you need to put the guitar down and sing the solo.

Mentions he's looking forward to playing Spit. He also said there was never an album where he had to sing this much. How much is actually singing on this?

Rob doesn't seem to be to excited to be in Metallica anymore, just going through the motions. It must be boring waiting around so long to release new music.

It's been 14 years...are you actually surprised he doesn't have a lil boner when he's on Metallica duty? I like seeing how laid back and established he is in the band now, having his opinions heard in tuning room etc

Can't lie, I'm starting to enjoy DM's production in the same way I enjoy Justice. It has it's own vibe. Whatever that is. Metal, I guess.
oops. wrong thread.

Damn, they can't play this song. Hang up the phone! They just haven't practiced it enough. Back in January they said they had 10 songs rehearsed and nearly ready to perform, and Spit obviously wasn't one lol If they can play Blackened live they'll be able to do Spit.
