Pretty close on the Holy Wars thing, other than you can hear an accent pop out in a couple of places.

So yeah it's pretty fucking weird to have Hetfield tell us to drink responsibly in a Blackened Whiskey commercial at the beginning of the podcast.
I guess as long as he's comfortable with it that's all that matters, it's just a bit weird for Het to be in a whiskey ad at all let alone having him dish out a drink responsibly disclaimer while advertising his whiskey.

Metallica stated years ago they don't want bands in the same genre opening for them. Big 4 was a specific event though. Metallica don't care about being 'part of a genre', they just do their thing.

I look at it as, he is the guy that should tell you to drink responsibly. He knows. I believe James said at some point his problem with alcohol is his personal problem, he's not anti alcohol just because he has a problem.

Pretty much every band that has opened for them since my first show back in the early 90s has been metal or rock metal for their own shows. The festivals were also quite metal, except for summer sanitarium, and Lollapalooza, (Soundgarden ๐ข) that was Nu metal, but still current and relevant at the time. Lamb of God, Volbeat, COC, avenge seven fold, Godsmack, GNR, Faith No More, Danzig, to name a few that my burnout brain remembers, are all on par and suitable, even Linken Park, Deftones and Limp are far from Jerry C. And Days of the New more grungy stuff.

I was referring to the sub genre of 'thrash.' One of them said something years ago, like, 'why would we have some band open for us that sounds like us?' I think they referenced Sepultura.

That podcast is the most overproduced piece of shite. Why on earth did they ruin an otherwise great podcast like that ?

It's the 2021 equivalent of a lame 90s commercial TV channel doing a "documentary" on Metallica. The best part about it is hearing all the soon to be unreleased Black Album boxset demos/rehearsals/riff tapes in the background.

I wonder if whatever came up with the idea knows what a podcast really is. I guess since now everybody and their dog has some soft of podcast they thought that calling heavily edited audio documentary with a word "podcast" will turn more ears in.

Somehow the band played their last show to an audience two years ago today.

They just posted this (fairly) recent group photo which is very similar to an older one so I thought it'd be fun to compare. Not a big fan of James' new look personally but whatever floats his boat.

Rob shaved his head? Or is it just tied back and really slicked? Can tell on my little phone screen.

Iโver never liked the Cowboy look, it just not a good thing for him. The hats or the worst, but those vests and boots are also not my thing. Of course he can do whatever he wants though

Cowboy look is better than bleached bright yellow hair and that stupid thin chin beard thing he had a couple of years ago.

James always rocked the cowboy look well. I never liked his whole tattoo biker look.
