Recently saw Arrival. First impression was it was watchable but ultimately forgettable. After mulling it over a bit, I appreciated it more. It has a lot more depth and is far more understated than I thought it would be.

Arrival is fantastic, don't listen to these other people. And why the hell did they randomly take the bird in the cage with them? When people are mining in caves they often take a canary down with them. It's to detect if there are any poisonous gases being released in the cave. If the bird dies, the people know that they should probably get out of there before they die as well. I'm guessing that the bird was for pretty much the same purpose: to see if there was anything dangerous. |

Saw Arrival yesterday.
It was alright but as lordcatfish said more understated than I thought it would be, which honestly made it a bit boring at times. After a while I didn't feel that invested in the story anymore. It was a movie that left a few thoughts (interpretations of parts of the story) in my head after I'd seen it though.
