Great film, great dialogues, great shots, beautiful music. I love everything about that movie. One thing though, The Vision should be the most powerful of the bunch, yet he does nothing in the entire movie. He's too nice. He's afraid he's going to hurt someone.

The Shallows
Mediocre at best, chick is nice but annoying and the ending is just ridiculous. I will say that it's shot beautifully and I can't recall a movie with nicer looking surf/wave scenes

The Godfather - So I've finally seen it. Really good movie! It's a bit slow and obviously long but if you have patience and are focused you're rewarded with a story that draws you in more and more as it unfolds. Saw it in a movie theatre which I think probably made the experience even better compared to if I had just seen it at home.

I watched 2001:A Space Odyssey last night and it really gave me a hankering for the Simpsons. So what was up with that big black thing?

Second Godfather movie is fabulous. Do watch. I (eventually) will! I have to watch that too. Watched the first one about a year ago. I have to be in the right mood, as I know it's quite long.

Don't Think Twice
So good. Gillian Jacobs and Keegan-Michael Key are amazing. So's the rest of the cast.

So what was up with that big black thing? It turns things EVIL!!!! Those monkey's were peaceful until that thing came, then they started beating each other and killing those pig things with their newly found weapons. And suddenly they had a taste for blood!
HAL was just a regular old AI until he started talking about the monolith, then out of nowhere he tried to kill everyone.
The monolith standing at the end of the bed near the end of the film was so ominous, that big baby doesn't bring anything good...I'm sure of it!

I watched 2001:A Space Odyssey last night and it really gave me a hankering for the Simpsons. So what was up with that big black thing? Read the book, its way more interesting. I love the movie, but it was just too grand of an idea for what they could actually do with FX back then. It was still a triumph for what it was at the time, but the pace, fx, and all those silly drawn out musical scenic moments put me into a coma. If there is one movie that deserves a remake, if done well, its 2001.

I agree, it felt very dated....and that scene at the end with all those colors flashing by for like 30 minutes, I felt like I needed to be on acid to enjoy that! I would love for someone to remake it tho, fells like it could be something great with modern day visuals applied... I'll have to pick up the book next time I go to the library.

Yeah that acid trip at the end is bad. The book describes much better then the movie presents it. Its like the guy slipt into the Tron movie or something, where as the book brings it to a much more spiritual level with the guys thoughts and feelings which you can't really put onto film.
There are 2 more books that follow 2001, maybe more I'm not sure, but I read the three and they are fantastic, the second one in particular, it picks up with Mr acid trip after his "elevation" into the next level of reality. Great stuff. Interstellar was a big rip off on some of its points IMO.
The cool thing about 2001, the book and the movie, was that they were written together at the same time with NASA feed back in regards to technology and stuff. So it was fairly accurate as to what was real at the time and what the future held.

I watched Ex Machina a couple of weeks ago. Cool concept but I don't know if that movie was able to reach it's full potential with that ending...

Yeah, I felt the same with Ex Machina. I was loving it all the way until the end. It felt like they took the easy way out. Such a bummer.
Finally watched Man of Steel. It was pretty damn good, I think. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the ending of the final battle. I don't think it was t very suitable for Superman as we've known him. Oh, and the billions of dollars worth of destruction around Metropolis? I kept thinking: "Who's paying for all this?", but I think that is a major plot point in BvS:DoJ, amirite?

So had a bit of a marathon today.
Sing Street What a film. Funny, engaging, romantic. Just brilliant. Loved the way that the main character changed his look to mirror the music he was listening to. And good god when he hugged his brother at the end..... I may have got a bit of dirt in my eye or something.
The Nice Guys I pretty much love anything that escapes from Shane Black's mind and this was no exception. Ryan Gosling was just phenomenal in this film. WHo knew he was a comic genius? Very much in the vein of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang what a cracker of a film.
10 Things I Hate About You Ahhhhhh Julia Styles. How I love thee. A charming reinterpretation of The Taming of the Shrew features some stellar performances especially from the kid that was the head elf in The Santa Clause. ANd ohhh Julia Styles. Why won't you marry me? Or at least, bounce up and down on it for a while.

A lot of people really loved The Nice Guys. Didn't really get the hype personally. It was a good bit of fun, nothing particularly exceptional. The big fight scene at the end dragged.

Dead Rising: Watch Tower
I was expecting a disaster but it was pretty good, it did take itself a bit too seriously at times. I was expecting it to be over the top and tongue in cheek.

I'm watching Hateful 8 - I don't like it. I think it is boring and drags. Nothing happens, all they do is talk. Snoozefest I would take a simple, slow paced film with interesting characters over another film that has loads of action but no substance or style or characters. Alright!? SO TAKE THAT AWAKE!
