Oppenheimer sounds interesting, might as well watch a doc on him though.

The new Indiana Jones is absolute garbage. Awful story, awful pacing, awful CGI… there’s nothing redeemable about it. They could have done so much with an aging Indy but instead we get pure garbage as the send off. It really boggles my mind that you are constantly so horribly wrong about things. Bad, bad opinions galore.
I just saw Dial of Destiny tonight, and I really liked it. Definitely waaaaay better than Crystal Skull. This felt like an actual old-timey Indiana Jones movie, albeit with a geriatric Indy. I thought the CGI de-aging was done pretty damn well. It was certainly better than Princess Leia or Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One. And it felt right that the bad guys were the nazis again, and I loved all the references to earlier films. All in all, I was thoroughly entertained. Of course nowhere near as good as the original trilogy, but still - a very enjoyable film.
Of course you liked it. The only part that felt like old school Indy was the opening sequence but that was ruined by the janky de-aged face (which looks fine in still shots but went all busted up while in motion/speech… even worse with the 80 year old voice on the young face) and also awful early 2000’s like CGI and effects. Magic hat staying on. No wind effects even though they’re on top of a fast moving train. PS2 like shadow men running. The rest of it was a mess. Unlikable characters, literally all of them except Indiana Jones were insufferable especially the female lead. Terrible long drawn out CGI chase scenes, terrible story telling with all the plot holes (e.g. what happened to Indy being wanted for murder?) and plot devices (eg. Bad guy just looking through binoculars to see which country the good guys are going lmao)… absolutely terrible pacing. Oh and the fact Indiana Jones barely does anything, the awful insufferable women becomes the main character. And when Indy is on screen in anything other than a closeup you can tell it’s not really him/Harrison Ford and instead a double or just CGI. Basically every scene has something that reminds you you’re watching a movie… there’s nothing immersive or nothing to help you get lost in the world/story. It’s like the Hardwired of movies.

The Pope's Exorcist (2023)
It's pretty terrible but has a comedic element especially with RC's acting.

Tom Cruise delivers again. Mission Impossible is so good. The action is incredible and a stark contrast to all the green screen CGI shit I saw in Indiana Jones a week or so ago.
I still think the best MI is either the first or Ghost Protocol but this one is a lot of fun too.
Between this and Top Gun, Tom Cruise really is one of the last real action stars in Hollywood making fun movies that people want to see. I hate to think what movies are going to be like 10-15 years from now when he’s over the hill.

saw Barbie today and was disappointed 2.5/5. the movie didn't have many laughs other than what I'd already seen in the trailer. I also got a bit bored in the 2nd half, it's a shame as I was really looking forward to seeing it.

It's worth watching if you've never seen it. Make sure it's the version with the extra scenes. A bit slow and tame compared to today's stuff.

back from seeing Oppenheimer, the movie was good but I can't say I enjoyed it. it probably deserves a 4/5 but personally I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would 3.5/5. I don't think it needed to be 3 hours long, just my opinion.

Batman Begins is dull and tiring, The Dark Knight is pretty good but mainly due to Joker, The Dark Knight Rises is god-awful and anybody who likes it should be ashamed. Intestellar and Inception are pretty much flawless, though.

What have I watched the last few days? Transformers: Age of extinction: not bad Transformers: The last knight: pretty shit. More an alien invasion film than a transformers film. Bumblebee: really good. Fun movie, easily the best (second best) transformers movie. Once upon a time in Hollywood: very awesome. Tarantino at his best. Maybe a bit long but suprising end. Dude, it's Manson, Tate and Polanski but with a twist.
