I fell in love with king Diamond way the fuck back in 92 when I was 10 and shoplifted ''The Eye'' on cassette from this hole--in-the-ground record store. The night before, my friend and I listenend to ''Two Little Girls'' of off some mix tape and it was instant magic for me. I had never heard anything so bizzare and evil. I have been a huge fan of King Diamond since that day. The production of most everything pre ''The Eye'' turns me off so I never got too into those albums but enjoy them anyways. But its everything after that I can Listen to forever. The Eye, The Spiders Lullaby, Voodoo, The Graveyard, The House of God, Give me your Soul Please and the Puppet Master all have a place in my heart and are just fantastic (Abigail 2 not so much).
I find it hard to find people who are into King Diamond, most people just don't get it and think its music for loonies, and it is! So that's my story, what's yours? How did you find King Diamond. Got any news or cool info to share? I have been trying to find info on a new album but it seems he is focusing on the Abigail live tour and that at the moment.

I love King Diamond, but c'mon..dismissing the stuff pre- The Eye? That's the better ones. "Them" has bad production, but it gives it perfect atmosphere, I couldn't imagine it any other way. I do like most of his work (House of God, Graveyard, Give me Your soul being the meh ones for me). Abigail II is not THAT good but it has several good songs, and I have a soft spot for it because it was the first cd I bought as a metal fan ( I mean bought when it came out, other than that I just had a few old Metallica ones ) The Puppet Master was a great story and record I think, just the thought of the guy being alive inside the puppet forever gives me the chills..

I never said I don't like those first albums, they are great, but I prefer everything post The Eye. I find the stories more interesting and everything after the Eye sounds way better produced. I love that big full sound of the newer albums. Much more my thing. The Puppet master is by far one of the best records ever IMO. Such a sad story. I'm not to fond of Mercyfull Fate, they are who they are, a little too rocking for me, not spooky enough.
Abigail 2 depresses me though, I was really into it when it came out but after a while it started to just bum me out.
He has some horrible videos though. Very cheesy and low cost. Oh well.

The production of most everything pre ''The Eye'' turns me off so I never got too into those albums but enjoy them anyways. I love the production on all the 80's albums. The 90's however.. well, let's just say the production is by far the weakest point of those releases. The Eye with the sound of, let's say, Conspiracy, would be epic.

So you guys like that 80s Reverb over kill sound like some one is playing the album in an echoy bathroom? its like The Black album against Ride the Lightning or Ozmosis against Bark at the Moon. I'm just not too into that sound, to each their own. It can work sometimes, there are some Black Metal albums that sound like they were recorded in the middle of a forest and they sound awsome, but I much prefer the sound of say Dimmu Borgir Stormblast 2005 compared to the 1996 version.
Oh well, enough about production, its all about the music.

So you guys like that 80s Reverb over kill sound like some one is playing the album in an echoy bathroom? Oh, come on. It's nowhere near that bad. :P Moving on to the music itself.. The Pupper Master is a great album, indeed. I'd say it's the only one close to the classics in terms of songwriting and story.

The Puppet Master is just amazing. The first time I started listening to it, I was like what the fuck, Budipest and puppets... ok then... and then I kept listen and holy shit, the story just sucked me right in by the third track. The Puppet Master's wife just got me hooked. By the end of the album I almost had tears in my eyes. If I was a film producer, I would totally turn that album into an epic metal musical movie or something. I would love to see what kind of Novel King Diamond would think up if he ever wrote one .

I just came across the guitarrists' side project on Spotify and it wasn't bad at all.
It has a very Helloweenish vibe going on.
