I was bored to death so I did two rhythm tracks and rough mixed it with a drum/bass track. Some wobbly spots (some parts I have no idea what I´m doing). Tips on getting better? What parts are ok? Recorded with Apogee Jam straight in to GarageBand with my ESP LTD EC500. soundcloud.com/sindre-551929366/leper-messiah-guitar-cover

Yeah sorry it's not to be mean but it kinda shows :) You really need to put in some more time buddy, I would start with basic technique exercises with a metronome. Remember to do it with a clean tone. It sucks but it will help you so much down the road. I've not tried that apogee jam thingy but I assume it's some kind of input device, so it's probably hard getting a really good tone.
It probably sounds like a lot of work but that's guitar playing for ya right there ;)

I need to get advice and honest feedback Yeah, I have never used a click track (like Lars lol) but I agree that I have to Get the basics first. When I started I began playing metallica, without any form of training, band buddies and I still do. And yes, the apogee thing has piss poor tone but its better than nothing right now. Damn I hate typing from my phone

Yeah I started like that too But I actually really enjoyed it that way. Besides, if you are "only" gonna play with ya mates, in a rehearsal room with some beers, then it's all good. It's just when you start to record stuff, things tend to get tricky and ones true abilities are often shown. When I started recording myself I couldn't believe how bad I sounded, I almost wanted to quit playing.

That was good, keep at it. I was hoping for my favorite part but you didn't play it, the lead before the set the trap, hypnotize part.
To save time, you can always search online for Metallica drum and bass tracks from guitar hero and use those as your backing tracks.
