If I had to guess, based on Joe Berlinger's book, I'm thinking "other addictions" might be females. Who really knows. Whatever it is, it was serious enough for him to cancel a tour, which I'm positive he does not do lightly. Weren't other addictions pain killers and chocolate? + fuel & fire |

I imagine whatever it was has to be incredibly embarrassing for James... especially since the band had to cancel/postpone a tour - something they pretty much have NEVER done outside of the 86 bus accident, and maybe the pyrotechnics incident. In an interview about S&M2, Lars was asked about the circumstances surrounding Hetfield's departure, but declined to elaborate any further than the statement they issued. I imagine if we hear any more it'll be from James himself -if/when he so chooses. They've been generally pretty open about this stuff in the past, but this is a private issue and we should just leave those questions/speculations be.

I think he or someone else did mention painkillers at one point (started with his back surgery in 2000) but I'm pretty sure the chocolate thing came after rehab, as a sort of a replacement for alcohol. I wanna say James also did bring up women at some point but fuckin' who knows, there's so many stupid rumors flying around and second hand accounts that it's hard to remember who said what and if they're a reliable source to begin with. It's not like it really matters or is any of our business. |

However, if there was a tour announcement, I would not expect it to be mid-year, during our winter. Dont think they have toured here midyear since the 90s, probably choosing to come over during the nicer months

Having said that, it doesn't sit well with me......creates pressure with a set date that he must be "better' for. They won't want to have to announce another cancellation

Yeah, everyone is guessing but its at least educated guessing based on previous stuff.
Not sure about "he might feel he'll be alright to continue when needed" - he was needed, and its such a big call to cancel a BIG tour, particularly by this band with a loooong history of not doing that.
Anyway......
Would be nice to hear an update, but I'm content with just waiting.
