We are intelligent people here, derogatory words will just alienate the offender from the community. No one likes a c word.

Can we call each other faggot (but not in a gay way) What an awfully odd thing to request. Unless you're referring to a Northern English meat dish or firewood I'd say it's probably not alright**. I think Alan's post r.e. anything too derogotary will (likely, hopefully) definitely distance the offender from the community as a whole is a good rule to go by. Probably(?) anything sexist/racist/gender-ist/obviously not acceptable to say because offensive to decency is Not Good, too. Slurs against white people is probably a bit ~ but tbh we seem to rule the world (+ most(?) of us here are white) so it's not really something I'd particularly worry about. **though I know there are other meanings of that word, including, as Awake pointed out, another name for a Bassoon.

where do we stand on fannybaws? it's a great word and I think it's a-ok on the "non-offending-anyone-ometer" but you've gotta run these things past the folks, eh.

That's one for the ladies Well I was thinking that. It can go by the fellas/those folk with baws too since their genitals are implicated in the term also. Of course, that would then bring into debate words like "cock" and "dick" and those are fine and male sexuality isn't really threatened or objectified nor as political an issue (we're doing pretty well, us men) nor is it a directly sexual insult (fannybaws doesn't even make sense; men are quite into their own phalluses anyway so calling and calling a man a dickhead, idgaf) so nah, fuck 'em, I will happily call men penises 'til the end. Tho I think you could say "prick" is questionable, perhaps, what with it playing into tropes of masculinity and the penis symbolising power and that stuff and to put someone down with it a bit ~ but as I said, we men have things pretty good so it's not so bad. Naw, I'm inclined to say that's just as bad. Fannybaws is inclusive, (essentially) everybody is included and no one group is being victimised or something pertaining to them used as the insult. Though I do appreciate that it can possibly cross the line, so that's why I asked if my regional term (which I'd rarely use, despite it being a great sounding word) is a-ok by the community's standards. I think your term might go farther toward being offensive (certainly if you were to call someone that word! otherwise it's just a crude name but I guess that's not my place to say if that is offensive!), but idk, that's just me.

I think Prick and the C-word when referencing someone is a bit aggressive, but that's just me
Fannycrack is like saying cockdick, is it not?

I think Prick and the C-word when referencing someone is a bit aggressive, but that's just me Fannycrack is like saying cockdick, is it not? yeah, that's pretty much where I'm at. Which is shame because they're great swear words, right? If they weren't loaded with such awfulness they'd be up there with the best. Our (Glaswegian, need I say...) English teacher back in high school delivered a half lecture on what makes a good swear word and said that the C-word, and the sound of it, is the best but that it's such a terrible word we ought not to use it. I think "fuck" works the same way, that's a great swear word with that "u" sound.

Thats why I say feck.
You can also substitute the C-Word with the whimsical "Quim"

Tbf I can't think of a time when I've had to use the C-word, never mind substitute it. I'd rather call them something less offensive or be mean with non-sweary words.

I mean, people use it as a term of endearment here so idk. (Scottish attitudes not just to swearing but to language as a whole are fascinating)
That one's quite situation specific, tbf.

Splitter? How so, believe it comes from the old term for penis "beard splitter" so you can substitute it any time you like for cock, dick, penis or tallywhacker.
