With S&M2 Metallica will have 3 official live CDs in their catalog - Mexico'93, S&M'99 and S&M'19. What's amazing is that will give us 2 live perforemances of such a obscure song as The Outlaw Torn. This is more than hits like Creeping Death, Fade to Black, Seek and Destroy, Four Horsemen, Blackened and many more. +Through The Never +Hardwired Special Edition with the Kill/Ride live set +Deluxe Remaster Boxset gigs +Limited edition Record Store day releases +LiveMetallica

In acoustic form. Also, Through the Never was released in audio form too. And technically they have like, what, hundreds of official CD live releases you can buy? Not 'major releases' I know, but, still official releases.

yeah yeah I know what you guys mean and technically you are right but still many times when i see discography lists of metallica, S&M album is included while many things that you pointed out are considered to be sort of bonuses for hardcore metallica fans only. Many general metal fans know very well that metallica has live S&M album but I wouldn't say this about things like Record Store releases. It's a different category.

Binge and Purge was a proper release.
Also, whats the Hardwired special edition with Ride/Kill medley?

As someone who flew across the country and spent $1000+ on this trip....... holy shit was it worth it. Getting to see tracks performed from my favorite live album in front of my face, seeing songs the band has only performed a handful of times, and going to this beautiful arena/city that I’ve never been to before. It’s been a whole experience for me but this was well worth the trip. Set two kept my jaw wide open with all of the surprises. The band hasn’t pulled out unbelievable set moves like that since the Fillmore shows.
On paper it makes sense to be disappointed by the choices if we wanted a proper S&M 2 album, but half of the set was brand new, and the vibe as a whole was a lot more diverse than the first show, with the orchestra features, James-only UFIII, and AWMH acoustic (which was one of the highlights for me along with Outlaw and No Leaf Clover). V excited for this live album.
However I’m like 99% sure they flubbed One badly at the end (night two) but it got super muddy and I couldn’t even tell what was going on.

Yep. Super hyped to watch a proper S&M in 4k HD, with updated sound quality. BUT,,, the setlist of the first S&M is vastly better in my opinion. Would love to see the previous S&M get some video editing magic done to increase the video/sound quality to today's standards.
The Thing that Should Not Be, and Bleeding Me were better suited for a symphony to all of the new songs on this set list. Confusion and TDTNC was good. Thing and Bleeding were amazing though, and lasted me this past 20 years.
Had my hopes up for Fixxxer, Spit Out The Bone, and a hardcore from DM akin to LIL or ANL. Don't know why Moth gets so much live play. Atlas and Revenge are better suited to a symphony, and probably more popular with Metallica hardcore.
But look at me acting like a sniveling crybaby. I was there. It was fucking amazing. And since I was the first night, it was all a surprise. And I'm lucky enough to watch this S&M and not wished I was there, cuz I wuz.

Binge and Purge was a proper release. Also, whats the Hardwired special edition with Ride/Kill medley? Not the medley, the live show of exclusively Kill and Ride songs that they played at the record store when they released the first two deluxe box sets. And maybe I’m way off, but I think the Metallica fans that know about Binge and Purge are the same people that would know about all their other official live releases.

Fine dude, you are completely right and I was wrong sorry Anyway, the only unforgiven that has ever been performed with the orchestra is the third one. The first thought that occurred to me is that the Unforgiven I would be the best one but given that Het is unable to sing it even remotely close to the album verision I think it's good that they left it.

The symphony actually sounds really good mixed with confusion! I wasn't that keen on that track but I enjoyed that.

It really does. Can't wait to hear it all properly mixed.
Also, with the DVD, if it's like #1 and you can play just the symphony, it won't be long before someone mixes the studio U3 with the symphony tracks.

With you now - you're referring to the 3CD deluxe set of HWTSD....last disc had the LoS, some covers and the RSD set
Binge and Purge stands out for me as a proper release as it was the first opportunity to hear a full liveshow from them, you just had to pay a shitload to do so. I remember seeing it in the store with no knowledge that it was coming out...couldn't get my money out fast enough.
It was not like those dodgy Unauthorised CDs that were found at the $2 shops (with each CD being $20, there was maybe 16 of them and woeful quality)

Nice quality clip from last night. Confusion sounds interesting, the score for Memory is very similar to S&M1

Ugh, I'm so bored of Memory. I get why they keep playing it live, but I was hoping for something else. Confusion sounds surprisingly great with a symphony.
I'm slightly disappointed S&M2 happened now and not a few years back when James sounded better live. I get it, 20th anniversary at all, but it's unfortunate.

Same with the Never shows, sounded pretty not good on those. The year after was at his best

I listened to one clip, the Iron Foundry one and I dunno whether the recording was garbage or the playing or both so I stepped away from it. I'll wait until I see the show in the cinema in October. Overdubs and all.......

Same goes for the Hardwired stuff... You can always do a dry run with Hero, Bleeding Me or something else from S&M1 and report back 😉
