We know Metallica generally don’t like to waste rehearsed songs, so there’s a good chance if they rehearse say, Outlaw Torn and No Lead Clover for example, that we’ll hear them at some shows following.

I had the same thought Yep.
Chances would be much greater if they were planning multiple dates at Rod Laver!
I don't expect too many new additions, they won't want to work too hard on a heap of things for one night.
Them pulling out the acoustic remakes for that AWMH show recently is an example of making a special night without totally reinventing the wheel......easier to just rehearse or relearn what they've done previously.

Hm, probably, but unfortunately (or well, thankfully really) I can't really remember. I bought it back in '99 (or possibly early 2000) and shortly afterwards (in 2000) I bought The Black album, Ride the lightning, Master of puppets, ...And Justice for all and Garage, Inc., so I got to hear many of the original versions quite shortly after hearing the S&M versions. I know also that I heard the original versions of at least Fuel and The Memory remains sometime around when Reload was released. Another example of hearing the original version first is Nothing else matters, which was the song that got me into Metallica. Still my favorite Metallica song. I love both the original version and the S&M version. |
