Luke Perry just joined him, what a day. The 90s are dying in front of our eyes.  Keith Flint dying hit me harder than anything since Lemmy, I guess, and maybe even harder than that. The Prodigy was a real game-changer for me back in the day. I used to listen to punk bands like Bad Religion, Green Day and The Offspring, which, while definitely rocking, weren't exactly the hardest-hitting music. But when I first saw "Firestarter" on MTV, everything changed. With the trio of the chaotic, rebellious "Firestarter", the slithering, nasty "Breathe" and the drug-addled can of whoop-ass of "Smack My Bitch Up" and their badass music videos, suddenly the harder, more evil and aggressive style of music started to appeal to me.
The Prodigy was definitely my gateway to heavier music, and eventually metal. I was a first-day buyer of "The Fat of The Land", and it's definitely one of my all-time favorite albums. I still listen to it pretty regularly to this day. Funnily enough, in addition to heavier stuff, TFOTL also introduced me to rap music, with "Diesel Power".
And he was just 49? That's no age to die. Fuck.
