Someone in the comments says that a riff in the song was written during the Load/Reload era, and that there's footage of it. Does anyone know what he's/she's talking about?

12:40 mark, only about 2 seconds of playing before Lars kills it dead :(

Saw this performance on my Google news feed of all places, really love it. So much better than the album version.

Disagree. While the original manages to convey lots of raw emotion, the acoustic version just falls flat on its face. It just seems like an average Metallica song when it's "prettified" imo.
The original was something Metallica had never done before. With James being pushed to a breaking point of psychotic rage. On the acoustic version he's just singing country folk. Which is cool for what it is. James has a great voice for that style. But it just doesn't cut it for me.

Yeah but Lars beating the frying pan in the background still fucks the album version up. For me this version took a weak and horribly produced song and made it listenable, even though some of the lyrics are still cringey and can't be saved.

I understand All Within My Hands now. It sounds right when you listen on the right time.

..... It might be the greatest song I've ever heard about the inability to love. I think that title goes to jessie's Girl That goes to having the worst friend ever song.
