And, it would be even better, with the bass guitar turned up a bit. Sounds a bit farty

Yeah, Jason's tone is horrible on AJFA. I'd have turned it down as well. Too clinky/springy. What is this? Peace Sells? Bob had a lot of fixxxing to do for TBA, but it sounded great on Garage Days...?
It sounds like his bass was high on Lars's cocaine.

Fast metal bass tends to not sound great, isolated. Rob sounds farty (sloppy) too when his bass gets up there a bit high in the live mixes.

Holy shit, Shortest Straw pro shot from 1992. The Black Album boxset is going to be so good if this is some of the stuff they have.

That clip is awesome, but I really wish they'd put in some fake crowd noise. Those dry sound board bootlegs I was obsessed with in the 90s still haunt me.

Too bad The Shortest Straw is in mono there. Jason was too overly aggressive on the bass (usual). Just comes out gargly when you slam too hard.

Startng to prefer James's look now to the late 80's/early 90's.

Cool to see - terrible vocals and solo but my god the drums were so good.

Why are people hyping up the drums? Lars was missing hits all over the place, and didn't get one single fill right. He didn't even play the main verse bass drum pattern correctly and that's dead simple. Sure, the sound was good and I guess he got a pretty consistent volume out of the bass drums (imagine that...) but that was pretty poor effort overall. He was much better on it in 2000.
