This one hurts quite a bit. Pantera was, and still is, one of my absolute favorite bands. I always loved Vinnie's drumming, too. RIP

Stunned. One of my favourite all time drummers, his stuff with Pantera is untouchable.
Hopefully, reunited with his brother again. RIP Vinnie, you will be missed.

this is really sad  I know he was devastated when Dimebag was murdered. I saw Pantera live 17 years ago. I haven't listened to them in ages but I know Vinnie Paul was a great drummer. here's Vinnie with my guy Satch about 18 months ago. |

I remember my first exposure to Pantera back in 92 or something and how much Vinny stuck out compared to the other drummers I heard at the time. Back in grade 5, Me and my friends would take over the lunch room with our little tape deck, crank the fuck out of Vulgar Display of Power, and just throw chairs around and break stuff, scaring off anyone who was curious about the ruckus going on. |

His drumming on Far Beyond Driven and The Great Southern Trendkill, is some of my favourite drumming in metal.
Dude was an absolute beast behind the kit.

Anybody could be popping pills. It's an epidemic in this country man. You'd think Vinnie would be above that some how? There are very few reasons you'd die in your sleep at 54 with no prior major illness. Booze, opiates, left the gas on.

My personal experience about shit like this, I can't really be 'sad' anymore, just pissed. I'm not surprised and shocked when people die anymore. It happens, it's gonna happen. I wasn't surprised Vinnie died, I'm surprised that people were surprised. More of your heroes are next, soon, and it won't be from an air born disease if you get my drift here. |
