This "tribute" is something either Jayzon or HR would like. Most of this album is pretty bad aside from a couple of songs.

I've listened to some tracks on that album. Luciferion does a pretty badass Bells, and the two last tracks are by In Flames and Dark Tranquillity, playing Eye of the Beholder and My Friend of Misery, respectively. They're damn good versions. Haven't heard most of the songs, though.

The Thing That Should Not Be sounds like a Pantera cover band covering Metallica with that weird vocal style Phil Anselmo uses in songs from time to time.

I used to buy a lot of those tribute albums. I enjoyed hearing new spins on some of my favorite songs, and, it gave me chance to hear some bands I would have never been exposed to other wise in the pre YouTube days.
Plus, for the most part, they where always good for a laugh.

I dunno, I kinda liked that. There's definitely worse covers out there. One cover I really like is Vice Squad's version of Enter Sandman from the "Punk Tribute to Metallica" album. I almost prefer their arrangement over the original. I love the punky attitude and drive their version has. The singer isn't that great, but hey - it's punk. On the same album there's a version of Jump In The Fire by Dee Dee Ramone. It's fucking terrible. |
