Sorry yepsure I didn't think you'd be a Pies fan (you still have teeth ) What I don't like about this stuff is the move to Americanise our sport(s) with over the top pre-game "entertainment". A new rule implemented for 2018 season is no on field warm-up pre-game. When I heard that my fear was fire-breathing jugglers and dancing bears before the bounce. The AFL-X concept got close. I've been to a decent share of Port home games and the use of INXS song feels cringy. Leave that to the English soccer teams I reckon. Guess I'm not big on changing things that I feel are already good. I don't want distractions! I need to keep focus - the Crows meet Richmond tonight after last years disappointment.

Guess I'm not big on changing things that I feel are already good. I don't want distractions! I need to keep focus - the Crows meet Richmond tonight after last years disappointment. Mate, I hear you. I'm not a massive sport guy, I go through periods of being right into the AFL, but could then go months without watching a game or keeping up to date with it. Part of the reason is just because it's so corporate now, the game has no soul left. It's all $$$. And yeah, so Americanised. You can't make out what's going on because of all the sponsors and shit all over the actual ground, all the animated ads in the background, all the corporate logos all over the players jumpers. You go to a game and you're just assaulted with loud ads and stupid music after every bit of play. Clubs, especially Victorian clubs, are completely disconnected from the community, they carry the names of suburbs which have no relevance whatsoever. You try to watch a game on TV and it's even worse. You have all the gambling ads every two seconds, ads all over the screen as the game is actually on. Then the commentators and entire media surrounding footy try to make it all blokey and macho like they're your mates having a beer at the pub talking footy, but in reality it's more like "OK BT lets go to the Toyota Coca-Cola Official Eye in the Sky Camera brought to us by our friends at SportsBet and we can take a look at those hit-out statistics from inside 50". Cue loud Nickleback/Standard Triple-M music. All the FoxFooty shows with all this analytics and statistics are fucking ridiculous. Footy culture is now about big business and politics, and they try to suck people in with the stats and SuperCoach and hero worship of the players, which are now complete celebrities in our society for some reason. It's all fucked. But again, stuff like this just doesn't bother me Ford.

Big grin and lots of nodding as I read this post The blokeyness, the in your face sponsorship pushing and the increase in gambling promotion is all a bit much these days. I understand sponsors need promotion but do they realise when they go too far it creates a negative. I purposely stay away from anything that is forced fed to me while I try and enjoy a motor race or a game of footy. Show me your product but don't do it every 5-7 minutes of my Saturday night - you're just gonna upset me. I throw a bit of money away gambling but the last few AFL seasons have promoted it so heavily I find it ridiculous they then preach about working hard to make the sport for families and attracting the youngsters thru Auskick programs, etc Anyway, Nothing Else Matters. If we had to assign some Met songs....... Crows - Master of Puppets Port - Hardwired to Self Destruct GWS - The Thing that Should Not Be

Crows - Master of Puppets Port - Hardwired to Self Destruct GWS - The Thing that Should Not Be lol about GWS assigned song. what should my Dockers have? ... oh, at least your team has won the cup once. I think I'll be dead before the Dockers get a flag Pav is another of the unlucky ones. Great talent but walks away after a long career without the big medal. Wouldn't have been upset to have seen him in Adelaide colours. Pav is 1 of many SA players that chose to stay with Freo & I loved him ffor his loyalty. Loche Neale is another.

I'm pretty sure that before nothing else matters played I could hear quietly 'long way to the top' playing just like met do before their set.
And ford- how good would it be to have For whom the bell tolls as the crowies pre game song....

And ford- how good would it be to have For whom the bell tolls as the crowies pre game song.... I didn't tune in in time to catch the music. Kinda cool that they know enough to include the AC/DC bit. Wouldn't be upset to have Bellz played before each game. With that uncomfortable looking stance and stare the team had going on at the end of last year, any music would be a good alternative I had no problem with "the stance" until they turned to water directly after. (thank god we beat the Tigers last week, mentally that needed to be done) Yep, I can see Bellz working great. Reckon I'd attend a few more games even, to hear that thru the PA. Would knock the scarf waving INXS crowd down a few notches
