last year I submitted a painting to Metallica's website when they asked to see our fan art. an email sent out said they wanted to use fan art in the show. I thought cool but I never thought I'd spot my painting. ^ I've had to copy & paste from the official Metallica forum as photof*cket now charges $$$ to host images.

I just found a great shot of the Kirk part of my painting. I didn't realise the band are putting the art work up during all cover songs, not just Breadfan.

pretty cool and great work thanks Mob. my painting is ok, I've seen some work that makes mine look like a kids drawing the photo I used as a reference for my painting. it's from Revolver magazine 2003, James is pulling a face in it. I remember someone saying to me that James didn't look right but when I showed them the photo from the mag. they realised he was winking and pulling that face Congrats on getting the recognition BB from tallica! I don't think the guys have anything to do with putting the images up. pretty sure that is the job of the show designer or whoever. also, my painting is up for like a second & then onto something else. though the image of Kirk was up for a little longer during Whiskey.

That is very cool BB, you should be proud. You have some talent there and to have one of your pieces up in HQ and on the cubes is something else - well done to you!

That's cool! Congrats. : ) thanks mate. That is very cool BB, you should be proud. You have some talent there and to have one of your pieces up in HQ and on the cubes is something else - well done to you! I really appreciate that. I don't consider myself to have "talent" as when I compare what I've painted to other people, I'm like ' well, my painting isn't as good as I thought' maybe I shouldn't compare how I've painted in the past to others but it's bound to happen. I notice great art and when I look at my stuff I'm like ' yeah, that ain't so great' John Dyer Baizley is not only a great musician but artist, his drawing & watercolour use... just f*cking amazing. Marald Van Haasteren, now he is just beyond great! I follow both these guys on facebook. Marald's work makes me drool HQ Bunny! You're in the big leagues now, that's not just a quick flash on a screen, that's motherfuckin HQ. Congratulations again. Why have you been sitting on this little fact? You should be beyond proud. I ain't been sitting on a little fact, my ass is bigger than I'd like I think the main reason I haven't shared my ' MetallicA: St. Anger Colours' painting on here is because Photof*cket stopped hosting my photos for free when I paint (well I haven't painted for years but) I take photos of my painting throughout the work. so I can see how what started out quite sh*t ends up being pretty good. the only reason I can share on here is because I'm linking back to the official site which lets me copy & paste photos. I'm a bit miffed that I can't find the photo that I used for the painting. I know I have it on my computer somewhere

Wow, you should have sent them that one - they look like photos! Do you have any other art you can post up BB? I wanna see more I do. nothing that I can say is great. I'll post some that I have on my facebook. ^ this painting is up on a wall in our home. it's based on Luke 9:23. I title these paintings 'The Life Of A Christian'. I've done a few paintings with this image but a different background. the original painting sold in 2010 at the Perth Royal Show. I haven't painted for a few years but when I do paint I use acrylics and started to add a gloss medium to the paint to give it that nice glossy look. ^ 'Big Frog' 2006. sadly I didn't use a gloss medium back then... didn't know that kind of thing was around for me to make the paint look better. acrylics dry flat. I painted this the same time I painted the MetallicA painting. ^ this photo is a part of a painting I started in late 2009 but I never finished the f*cking thing. I don't think I even know where the So What! mag. that I referred to is. I just like the texture of this, even though it's not finished. ^ I gave this to Satch just over 11 years ago at a G3 gig. I put him in Munch's 'The Scream'. I just thought Joe's facial expression when he plays live suited that image. I also made the lake in the background into the shape of a guitar. ^ I actually really like this one. it's a small painting another version of 'The Life Of A Christian'. I don't know if you notice but the figure in the image is following a set of footprints, which are suppose to be Christ's. that's what Luke 9:23 refers to. ' And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.' Vincent Van Gogh is my favourite painter. I don't try and paint like him but I do love his use of colour. that's what I like about the above painting, the colour. the purple clouds against a redish sky and the orange on the shoreline. I like paintings that look like paintings, if something looks like a photo then why not just look at a photo. I still can't understand people who like paintings that look exactly like a photo, for me those kind of paintings have no soul. ^ while I don't really like Bono now, he just irritates me. I painted this just over 12 years ago. you can see I used the A2 paper like a palette to get the right kind of paint on the brush.

Bob Ross is very soothing and amusing to watch. His techniques are so simple yet effective. In 20 min he turns a blank canvas into something magical.

Bob Ross is very soothing and amusing to watch. His techniques are so simple yet effective. In 20 min he turns a blank canvas into something magical. his voice is very soothing, it's like he's reading a bedtime story it's far out how he turns a canvas into a painting in 25 minutes. about the only thing that I don't like about that is that it seems very generic... how else can I put it. lack of soul? it's not that I don't like what he does, it's bloody amazing. but he's teaching others to paint the same which kind of takes the individuality out of it. does that make sense? Thanks for sharing Bunny. I love the Satch one - nice take on the original. The James one thats not finished is finished if you say it is! I like Munch, I only know of some of his work. the canvas that has that James on it is in the small room. I've always had trouble concentrating for long periods of time. that's why I leave a painting and come back to it the next day... in this case I just didn't come back to it That Satch one is cool. What did he say when you gave it to him? that was just over 11 years ago so I can't remember exactly what Joe said but I know he liked it. I told him that i heard on the news that ' The Scream' had been found (it was recently stolen from a gallery) and to celebrate I put him in The Scream. I got a really nice photo with him... I'll see if it's on facebook. edit: I had to add it to facebook. ^ that photo was taken early December 2006 after the G3 gig here in Perth. as you can see I put my arm around Joe, I didn't mean to do that pretty sure it was me nerves.
