Hopefully the band will squeeze in some studio time between tour dates this year so they can start gaving shape to the next album for a 2019 relese.
I'd like them to use some synths on some songs; some industrial metal. What do you say?

I expect it to exist. But I highly doubt it'll be before 2020.

2020 is in 22 months. They'd have to start writing in the next 6 months. Not going to happen

They’ll tour this album until the end of next year, we won’t see another album until at least 2 years after that.

I wanna hear James do some more laid back bluesy rock jams.

Honestly, I'm not 100% positive there will be a "next album". And I'd be totally fine with it. If they're doing one, awesome! I'd love it. But at this point, I don't expect it.

If they are gonna do another album, it's definitely and I'm confident its going to be closer to the Load sound. More heavy metal and less thrashy songs. I'm afraid those days are coming to a close.

Whatever it is, if there are solos, I hope Kirk does his homework. Enough with this improvised shit.

They’ll tour this album until the end of next year, we won’t see another album until at least 2 years after that. Hope not! It'd be ridiculous, it wouldn't make sense! Maybe until the end of this year but next year?! As far as I'm concerned, there's an announcement coming up next Monday -- probably a North American indoor tour. Oceania and some countries in Africa/ Middle East will likely get dates too.

So you acknowledge that they have to do 2nd leg in NA, visit Oceania, additionally some more countries and yet you find hard to believe that they will tour till late 2019? Did you really think that they would make it this year? Also keep in mind that during albums cycles they like to visit Europe twice (arenas and stadiums) so It is possible that they will also add some Europe dates in 2019.
If they START working on the next album before 2020 I will be very surprised. And you're talking about releasing it in 2019?

Well, it may take them up to mid next year but not thru the end of next year. They've made a point of not touring endlessly and having the next album faster this time around. So, some NA indoor dates in major cities, or cities they didn't tour last year would make sense. Plus, Australia; New Zealand, and South Africa; Israel; Egypt; Dubai; India and a few more. Anyway, for all we know they might have blueprints of songs (or finished songs!) from the last album sessions, or might be working on tour or at HQ on and off. Let me dream!

Also consider their self-imposed 50 shows per year limit. Considering the amount of ground they'll want to cover, they'll very likely be out on tour for quite a few years more before entering the studio is even a consideration.

It'll be five to ten years, as it always has been for new millennium Metallica. 2023-ish, I'd say. And it'll be slower, chunkier, groovier, like Hardwired. And at the speed they produce new material these days, it'll probably be their last studio album.

I assumed he meant 50 per year? That, and them not wanting to wait another 8 years to put out their following album.

I want them to do whatever they want. Just be organic. I do want one more because I want a a couple more Kirk riffs and I want an album he is more involved in. But if they don't, Hardwired is a pretty freaking good send off. Critically reviews were positive and so was the fan reaction mostly. Another platinum album, all that jazz, they did it all their selves, pretty cool. And honestly I feel like there are some really enduring songs on it. Moth, Halo, Dream, Confusion, Spit all are still great songs and even the not so good ones aren't just shit.
