seem to mind that there were a couple of CART races in australia in the early 2000s that were in conditions just like this which went huge pile up > 35 minute safety car > more rain > huge pile up > 35 minute safety car > red flag at half distance :/ the BTCC racing at thruxton is great at least and the motogp at silverstone was grand too

this has happened before in all types of series, surely, and the FIA never changes the regs.

motogp were able to cancel the silverstone round in 2018 because of track conditions and safety, can't see why that wasn't an option here.
alternatively, indycar and nascar just try again the next day.
both of those options would've made today far, far less of a joke.

and if logistics are a problem, maybe trying to run 23 races in under 40 weeks is something that ought to revised and not repeated

I wasted a lot of time last night waiting for this race to start haha (lights out is usually 11pm my time) i don't know what you're upset about, this race started (twice, depending on what mood race control were in), and a fine grand prix was run with a podium and everything! the TV companies can't complain and nor can we!

lastly, the 4 hours of bbc radio commentary with jack nicolls and jolyon palmer were class and they seemed to appreciate the farcical nature of things. no idea what sky was like - they usually are more sentimental and play the game a bit more - but i was relieved to hear paul di resta actually sound irate and try to challenge race direction afterwards.

yes, they do, which is something that would (and should) be addressed in order to allow monday races if needed Indy and Nascar run on volunteer marshalls and can do Monday races? :o indycar have a full time safety crew with *some* volunteers if i recall correctly. indycar do have employed staff at the very least, which nascar have been known to loan from time to time also, with all of the professionalism and speed that that would entail (at indianapolis once, marshals were by the car within 3 seconds of an accident for sebastien bourdais - admittedly the 500m or so he continued crashing after the original crash probably aided them but you see my point). it's baffling that paid marshals aren't the norm in one the world's richest sporting leagues.

legitimately every person involved with the management of that event (from michael masi down to the circuit) should be shunned from motorsport tbh
i thought that maybe we were a bit wound up about it on sunday but no, it is now wednesday evening, and i think that i am more annoyed by everything lol

Mazepin is a massive bellend but Mick has been getting away with stuff because of this completely undeserved love-in.

Mazepin is a massive bellend but Mick has been getting away with stuff because of this completely undeserved love-in. i've set to see anything that suggests either have earned a place on the grid other than who their fathers are. mick has been less daft than nikita but neither are exactly covering themselves in glory. it's not that they are spectacularly bad either but like certain back of grid luminaries albers, montagny, ide, karthikeyan, they are both racing for the win when really they are both trying to race for 17th at best.

that's george at mercedes confirmed and valtteri on a multi-year deal replacing comrade kimi at alfa.
i spend years hyping russell up, probably even in this thread, across two or three boards, then when he gets the big prize i end up thinking "valtteri could've gotten one more year...". any other driver in F1 and he probably should've but george is special, probably a good move.
the williams seat still has intrigue. if i were capito or doritos, i would strive for gasly but i don't know what the chances of that would be. i wonder if button will still has that 2004 contract?

turns out george hasn't actually been announced yet 😬 but unless toto wants to put de vries straight into the main team, vandoorne and gutierrez promised him the world, albon has the best agent on earth or conor daly is on the market...he's got the job surely

The F1 Facebook/Twatter admin is a knob...adding Farina and Fangio to the list of illustrious Sauber drivers, because Alfa -_- and somehow leaving out Kubica, Heidfeld and Frentzen.
It's just a pic on social media, but still... 😩

rumours abound atm that andretti are very serious about pursuing a formula one entry and rather than it being haas they have eyes on (presumably they know that the mazepins could outbid), it's sauber that they have an interest in. that is rather interesting.
bottas and colton herta for 2023
(or, now that he is newly signed, grosjean )
