Lately I've started to think more and more how many otherwise great songs are ruined by bad singers...
Do you have any suggestions, what are good instrumental metal bands / albums / songs?

At 28:18 there is a great song called Nenia, kind of sounds like an Orion ripoff with the middle slow bit and everything.

"Nenia" is boss. Great song off a great album. They released an even better instrumental called "Phantoms (of the Oath)" in 2006.

now, see, depending how liberal your definition of metal is (and if you can tolerate the odd bit of vocals now and again, they have quite a lot of instrumental pieces/where vocals are more of an instrument), the band Nadja are really good. they're reall good regardless but really good for this thread also.
i couldn't find a youtube link to the phenomenal (and instrumental) 2008 re-recording of their song 'Sandskin' but it'll be available somewhere online (probably their bandcamp) but i encourage everyone to check that out because it is aaaaaaace.
Latitudes are a very good instru-metal band too. They're a bit more in the "post-rock/metal" vain (Explosions in the Sky but for horror films rather than #sentimental US teen dramas) and as far as I know only one of their songs has vocals!
presumably you've come across Pelican, too? they're still instrumental, as far as i know.

Most Post rock/metal bands are great at what they do.
Russian Circles are my favourite.
Caspian has great songs too.

This album has 'some' vocals but it is instrumental mostly.
sludge/stoner.
Savatage has great instrumentals but I'm not sure if they are a metal as you would want.
Completely instrumental. Fantastic album.
